I won a ribbon, but.....

show last weekend. That's the good news. The bad news is they sold
my mini quilt. It is a mini quilt auction, but in the past, they did
not sell the minis that won ribbons without asking. I was unable to
attend the show, and I assumed that I would get it back. I called the
lady who purchased it, and explained to her that I had never won a
ribbon, and could I pay her what she had paid for it, or I would even
make her another one. She very rudely told me that she hated the
color of the binding on the quilt, thought it was an awful color, and
she had changed it. She then told me to make myself another one, and
hung up on me. I am making myself another one. I talked to the lady
in charge of the auction, and she said she was sorry that the mini had
been sold, but that I had not told her not to sell any of the ones I
made if they won a ribbon. It was my fault since I assumed the rules
had not changed. Oh well, that's another lesson learned.

I'd say fair bet that anybody who thinks *that* is a sane and logical
position has got far worse problems that the color of the binding.

Oh gosh Sherry, excuse me for saying so, but what a bi*ch! She could
still have refused AND been polite about it. Some people just astound me.
Anyway, many congrats on the awesome win! I'm sorry the rules changed
and your ribbon winning quilt got away. (I'm afraid I would have assumed
the rules were the same from one year to the next as well.) Did you
happen to get a picture of it? I'd love to see it.

Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of it. It is a redwork pattern
of an angel, but I did it in lots of colors. I have already traced it
on my fabric, and I looked to make sure I still have the same backing
and binding that I used on the other one. It won't quite be the same,
but it will do.

Actually, that would be a good thing for the show officials to do, at
least for all the winning quilts.

Very pleased you won a ribbon - I would be so pleased with myself if I won
anything.
As for that rude, insulting excuse for a woman, she will get what's coming
to her. She may have got the quilt, which she didn't really like or
deserve, but you won the accolades and the ribbon.
Please check with the show committee, someone may have taken a picture of
the prize winners then you could frame your ribbon and the picture together.

But yes, it is a warning to read the rules - every year. We had some
changes made to the upper size limit of miniature quilts between one
show and the next - could have had me disqualified >g<. I know it's
easy to be wise after the event; but let's hope your pain was not in
vain Sherry (for others).
