My mother-in-law told me about quilts she saw back in the 1950's
which were multi-colored in a pattern resembling a peacock, with
the peacock's tail filling most of the quilt. She was driving
through Kentucky and saw many quilts of this pattern hanging on
clotheslines. Does anyone know more about this pattern, or of
any book with a picture or pattern?

Thanks,

Jackie

not exactly a peacock - but similar. in "Watercolor Quilts" (That
Patchwork Place) on pg. 86 there's "The Magnificent Toltec Bird" by
Angie ADele Lewis Bingham. done in the watercolor technique. seems
like you could easily adapt this to a peacock.

I remember seeing chenille bedspreads in the pattern of a large peacock,
but not quilts. Have you seen the bride quilt in the latest QNM. Fabulous!
