heres a winterscarf...
this uses up those fabric scraps, batting scraps, minimal sewing, ya get to
try out the raggy technique and add one more item to the xmas gift list...ya
know for those unexpected guests who 'drop' in unannounced. :))
oh and looks pretty quick and easy as well. the pix there show ya its dead
easy. even i could manage that, lol.
could be a done as those ending/starting bits when you're chain sewing up
other quilt projects.
those homespun arent what i'd choose, tho they do look pretty enough,
whatever floats your boat, eh.
enjoy!!

You can't fool me. Nothing, nothing, nothing is going to use up the fabric
scraps. The scarf is precious and I might try it . . . but will have no
delusions about denting the scrap bin. I do love scraps and scrap quilts
but the situation has gotten way out of control. Polly

I have been sewing up mile a minute blocks from my small scraps. I have
42 9-1/2" blocks and there is NO dent in my scrap bins. None. It seems
they might have grown. The blocks are kind of fun. They will make up
cute kid quilts.

hmmmm, Ms Polly,
there is also two handbags, a belt, a tote, a baby bib and info on making
any size raggy quilts.
tells ya how many sqs of what size for each size quilt from crib up to king
size.
the construction is the same for all of them.
just an sew an X across the middle to hold the batting in each pair of sqs,
then seam them together in the design you fancy or just any old which way.
i've seen the raggys done in flannels.
easy peasy if ya just keep stacks of sqs of fabric and sqs of batting near
the machine to do when you've a mind to.

i could see teens with matching scarf, belt and bag.
i could see baby with matching crib quilt, they'd love the feel of those
raggy edges, eh, and a bib too.
i could see grandma with matching handbag, scarf, lap quilt and tote for her
knitting in the living room.
i could see grandpa with a matching scarf, lap quilt and perhaps he might
need a bib too. :)
heck everyone needs a scarf in winter, eh.
how about colour coodinated scarfs with fleece hats.
add a xmas stocking to match for each person who gets the other things.
and thats just working in sqs. there are still rectangles, strips,
triangles.
you can make raggy designs in any shape that takes your fancy.
how many scraps are left after all that? :-D
snorfle,
jeanne

Possibly as many as you started with or more as you're bound to think
'Hmmm? I don't have the right shades/patterns of homespun, etc., and
go out and buy some 1/2 yards of every one in you're favourite
internet shop and then end up with bits left over from your scarf/bib/
lapquilt/bag/belt/cuddly toy and underwear.......... projects.

Like Taria, I've tried making a mile a minute quilt. I kept sewing
and sewing and sewing and the pile of scraps got bigger and bigger and
I got bored so they are sitting in a poly bag in the cupboard under
the stairs as a UFO.
I too have more scrap than a scrap merchant.

However, that's a neat pattern and idea Jeanne, thank you for
sharing! DS may appreciate one, DD probably wouldn't. :D

Hmmm? maybe I should fish that mam out the cupboard...........
naaaaa ;)
