Fast Way to Cut GFG Hexagons

I just received some of those mylar templates for making GFG. They
keep the points crisp and I am now considering this as my new hand
project. However, I don't know a thing about cutting hexagons. Is
there a way to do it with a rotary cutter? Words of encouragement
about cutting by hand? Somewhere that sells pre-cut hexagon pieces?

When I made my GFG, I did it the old-fashioned way, I guess. I used an ARDCO
window template to trace each hexagon by hand, and then cut them out with a
scissor...mind you, this was back in 1984. I also traced the inside of the
window template on junk mail weight paper to make paper templates. I found
this the easiest weight to work with, although I am sure they could be rotary
cut somehow.

Yes. I posted a note on how to cut easy hexes. Go to Deja News and look for
easy hex and it will bring up my long instructions. I saw it on a quilting
show.

These techniques are exactly why I have never tried a GFG. So now I
am trying to make it look like I used those strategies but not. Go
figure!

I found it!! (Hadn't been to dejanews for awhile, don't like the new
look but that is another story) I have a birthday gift certificate to
my LQS. Tomorrow I hope to use it for an equilateral triangle and
some fabric. The hex sewing templates came with enough for one
flower.

So glad you found it as I didn't keep the message myself.
An equalateral triangle. No wonder I couldn't remember what it was called!
<G> I saw a quilters triangle in Walmart the other day that would serve this
purpose beautifully. Good luck.

There's that rotary cutter bible book out there that shows
you how to cut any shape with the idem... Judy Martin's maybe?
