Our beloved Coonhound/Lac mix, Jack crossed over the rainbow bridge
early this morning. It was the most difficult decision we've ever had to
make and it was the right one but my heart doesn't seem to understand
that.
Jack was by my side during the making of thousands of "blankies" for
dogs and cats just like he was at one time, waiting for a forever home.
He left us too soon but he touched the lives of everyone who met him.
He was one very special creature and he will be missed every moment of
every day!
I just need to share. Thanks for listening!

Jill, there are no words that will comfort you while your grief is so new
and raw. You will get past this terrible hurt... and I hope you will
someday find another deserving dog to share your home and your love. I'm so
very sorry for your loss. {{{Jill and family}}}

Thank you, Jill, for being big enough to turn loose when it was time -
always and certainly a painful decision. We send hugs and sympathy.

What you did this morning was certainly one of the most difficult and
painful things imaginable for a person who truly loves their 4-legged
furry family members -- and they ARE family members! It was the right
and loving thing, but that doesn't make it any easier now. I'm so
sorry!

Jill,

The group was here for me when I lost my QI/Therapy dog.
I'm here now, and if our new QI/Therapy puppy were able, he'd slurp
you a great big one full of his Fudgy goodness.
I understand the heart's confusion and the too soon loss all too well.
Perhaps Jack & Boomer are chasing squirrels together (even though
Boomer wouldn't have the slightest idea what to do with one after he
caught it... :-)

will find peace as well, knowing that you gave your beloved pet the
hardest gift we have to give. You are truly a faithful and good friend
to Jack. May you soon remember him with joy.

Thanks so much for all your support.
What seems to make it so difficult is that it happened so quickly!
Friday was normal but after dinnertime he became very ill and by late
Sunday the doctors had found a very large mass in his spleen which was
beginning to bleed. There would be no hope of recovery.
He was the best dog I've ever known.
Our thoughts are that the best way we can honor him is to love another
and there are so many that need a home.
It will not be long until we have another but not one who looks like
him.
I know it may sounds crazy, but I keep hearing a little voice say,
"Don't be sad, Mama. I'm alright. I'm playing and having lots of fun."
Maybe some of you know what I mean.
Thanks again!!

Jill, I absolutely do know what you mean. I'm more of a cat person than
dog person, but I've had a couple of great dogs. (Actually, it it
were entirely up to me, I'd probably have a few dogs AND cats!) Anyway,
the last dog, Corky, a lab-golden mix was hit by a car (the idiot didn't
even stop and let us know). I was so upset and angry. However, like
you, I had a revelation that Corky just wouldn't want me to feel that
way. It helped.

And I agree, the best way you can honor him is by giving another dog a home.
