Bad mistake - its now dark, I have no idea when Paul is coming home, and
I can't actually see the lounge floor - its covered with bags, boxes,
hand-dyed fabric, a pile of magazines to keep, another pile of mags to
recycle, and 3 bin-bags full of crap are loitering in the hall...
I'm rapidly running out of energy and enthusiasm for this project - and
haven't even got to the bit which fell a** over t** the other nite - I'm
working my way round behind it (so you just know its gonna fall again...)
I'm finding things I thought had been junked years ago, and are
therefore being junked now, I'm being very hard on myself with the
magazines because I have lots of books with lovely patterns in - and if
I live to be 150 I'll never make them all (the fact that I have the
fabric for them all and more besides is totally beside the point...)
The mags are unfortunately only the pages I ripped out some time ago to
keep, so not worth passing them onto anyone, but over the next few days
I might well find some gems that may well end up in a jiffy bag and
being posted around the world... watch your postboxes!

I recently had to cull my magazines (literally no more shelf space in the
entire HOUSE) and I just piled them on the end of the table for my
"students" to pick through/ I went from three BIG stacks to about half a
dozen magazines in less than two weeks! They were snapped up to comments
like "Oh I haven't seen one like that" or "My mum used to make them.
One quilters junk is another quilters joy!

Don't worry about it. It will all still be there when you get around
to it. Besides, you can't paint if you can't open the windows due to
outdoor temperatures. Store the paint where it won't freeze and buy
some latex paint conditioner to add to it when you get the time to
paint next spring. Meanwhile, you have all winter to draw out that
intriguing Celtic knot dream catcher and tape some paint chips on the
walls to see what colors you really like.
Plan. Hah! The sad truth is DH and I had 4 days off together and I
made a list of 7 home improvement jobs to do around the house in the
first three days. We are only going to accomplish 2 of them. Home
improvement things always take longer than I expect, and I really have
to admit that I am not as young or fit as I think I am. I know I'm
getting better at that because this time I am not in terrible pain
after day one, and I was not upset when I had to re-think the amount
of work we could really do. Luckily most of the jobs do not include
paint so maybe DH and I can get the other things done before spring.
My re-thought plan is to have the kitchen, bath, and hall totally done
so we can concentrate on one of the other rooms next year. We still
need new counter tops for the kitchen, and we're talking about a dish
washer which will change some other things. (Oh geez, I'm thinking
about re-doing the kitchen re-do. How sick is that?) I will not try
to do two rooms at the same time again, and I will not do a bathroom
as a do-it-yourself project ever again.
Larisa, I'm out here winging it just like you are. But we are in good
company because everybody else is doing the same.
