Visiting Sacramento CA next week from Ireland. Can anyone help with
location of quilting/fabric stores within reasonable distance from
Sacramento.

Valerie is looking for quilt shops in Sacramento, CA. I recently visited one
called Goose Tracks. The address is 6346 Elvas Ave. Sacramento, CA 95819.
Their phone number is 916-457-9412. Frankly, this is not the best quilt shop
I have ever been to. They carry fashion fabrics in addition to quilt
fabrics. It is located in the south/ eastern area of the city. There is a
much nicer shop called the Stitching Station in Roseville, just north east
of Sacramento. It is about a 15 minute drive. The address is 1000 Sunrise
Ave. Roseville, CA 95661. The phone number is 916-773-0296. They are on the
corner of Sunrise and Cirby streets. I hope this helps. Bigbearlady

Oh yes, we have two excellent stores - Material Girls on Alta Arden and
GooseTracks on Elvas Avenue. They have a great staff, very personable and
great selection of fabrics. If you need more info, just e-mail me.

Material Girls is at 2617 Alta Arden, just east of Fulton. Nice store,
friendly people, good selection (lots of books and bright fabrics) Phone
is (916)485-4252.

Fifteen miles west on I-80, in Davis, is the Pincushion Boutique. They
claim to have the largest Hoffman selection on the west coast - I could
believe them. Pincushion also has WONDERFUL fat quarter collections
called Sweet Treats. Address is 825 Russell Boulevard, in the University
Mall shopping center. (530) 758-3488.

Tayo's Fabrics in Fair Oaks is also nice.

Uh oh. I'm in trouble. I think I will be visiting the folks (who live in
Carmichael, in Sacramento County) more often.

Alta Arden I get lost trying to find these days but I used to live behind
that mall in Davis (Nice place to visit even without a quilt shop ;-).

For a retro-diner experience, I recommend burgers (whatever kind you like,
from veggie to super-beef), fries, and shakes at "Murder Burger", Olive
Blvd and Richards Blvd. Right near the Central Davis on-ramp to the I-80
freeway back to Sacramento (or to fortify yourself before your S.E.X.).

(waving hi at Loomis, Grass Valley, and even Greenville too ;-)
