Does anyone know where I can get replacement blades for a Kai rotary
cutter 45mm, model RX-45S? The blade has 2 notches spaced 180 degrees
apart (opposite each other). Neither Olfa or Fiskars replacements
will fit.

I bought a Kai blade in Austria last month, but this doesn't help you much!
Just didn't want you to think you were being ignored.

I got a Kai RX-45 in a Beginning Quilter's kit at Walmart-- it had a
cutting board, pins, needles, triangle, ruler, measuring tape.. can't
remember what all.. AND this cutter-- for $17. And it's the best cutter
I've ever used (I should say of the four I've used :>)... anyway, I can't
find blades for it either. In fact I can't find the cutter except in that
kit! I'm thinking of buying another kit just for the cutter! So if you
find out where to get the blades, let me know too! Does anyone know if blade
sharpeners work for all brands? or work at all?

Howdy!
I've seen the cutter and the replacement blade offered here:
http://www.knifecenter.com/knifecenter/messem/scissor1.html
Messermeister Kai Scissors from the Knife center.
Scroll down towards the end of the page; both large and small
cutters are shown, and prices for the replacement blades.
Good luck!

Jane,

I am using a Kai rotary cutter and our quilt shop here carries the blades.
I would be willing to get you some and send them.

I have been using a blade sharpener for several months now. I find that if you
use it properly, it does extend the life of your blades quite a bit. I bought
mine from Nancy's Notions, and you can purchase the replacement abrasive discs
for it there as well

I use a Dritz rotary cutter. QNM did a comparison of rotary cutters
a while back and as I recall, Kai makes the Dritz cutter. (I could
mis-remember!) My Dritz cutter takes Olfa and Fiskars blades.....I
have an Olfa for the fancy blades (pinking, wave, perfing) but I've
gotten so accustomed to the way the Dritz fits my hand I prefer it.

Nann
.....wondering why they can't make fancy rotary blades since the
fancy-bladed paper-cutting scissors are hard to use (surely there is
a trick to lining up the little scallopy pattern so it looks uninterupted)

Hi, I've got a Kai cut (5045) and it takes Olfa blades. I love it+ACEAIQ- It
retracts automatically so the blade doesn't sneak out at you in the sewing
box.
