Wanted to start a new tabletop pattern but refused to allow myself until I
finished machine quilting a kiddie quilt I had started. (was on the cover
of McCalls Quick Quilts a while back -- I wanted to see how quick it really
was. I'm involved in the National Organization that provides research $$$
and support for the problem my DS #3 has... and want to make a couple of
children's quilts to be raffled at the family conference next summer. It
did actually go together pretty well -- my first attempt at machine
quilting -- and I learned a few things along the way -- #1 -- make sure you
have thoroughly basted before beginning) (FYI - it's a 3 x 4 pattern -- 9
patch alternating with hole block -- set on points. I used a pastel plaid
(yellow / blue / green / pink) with some solid slightly bolder colors in the
same family. The backing is the pastel plaid -- will get a picture posted
when totally complete.
Anyhow -- all quilting done -- just need to add the blanket binding....
remember reading some posts here about that not long ago -- so need to go
searching for the best way to bind this.
Once got that done -- started the table topper !!! Boy did it go together
quick. No Triangles to cut an sew -- thanks to the "snowball" style (I
think that's what it's called). Got it completely together and basted! Now
a hand project for the evenings! It is Christmas Colors -- Deep Burgundy,
Hunter Green, Gold, Cream and a Dark Green print with burgundy berries and
gold highlights. Making one for DM-in-L and for my Mom for Christmas!
Guess I should now go in and get out my quilting needle!
Look for a double happy dance real soon!!!
Me, too! I'm making a bed-size scrap quilt from a Fons & Porter pattern &
today I finished making the 512 little half-square triangles for it. Now
I'm chugging along on the larger ones (128). I want this quilt for our
guild's sale in November -- looks as if I'll make it in plenty of time.
