Hello, all! I've just joined the newsgroup and thought I'd introduce
myself. I'm a quilter (obviously), a wife of 30 years, a mother to two
grown children, and grandmother to one adorable 3 year old grandson,
whom I am fortunate to babysit two days a week. I've been quilting for
about 12 years, but can never find enough hours in the day to quilt,
despite not working outside the home. Other hobbies are reading,
knitting (socks), and sewing things other than quilts now and then.

I'm also a blogger, and hope you'll stop by my blog some time at
http://QuiltingonaBudget.blogspot.com. The blog is used "to make our
expensive hobby more affordable" with fabric, book and notion sale
announcements; book reviews; DIY projects for the quilt and sewing
room; and lots more! I do try and do a weekly GiveAway -- and this
week's giveaway is for an item that will let you combine two of your
passions - your family and quilting!

This looks like a great group, and I hope to be an active participant!

It's a friendly group. Any QIs?

Looking forward to reading your blog.

Welcome Joan J
You're certainly up with many of us in the 'busy' department!
What kind of quilting do you like to do?
Great coincidence: our other Joan also likes knitting socks!!

Do you have a site where we can see your quilts?

Welcome to the group, Joan! :) I'm not much on reading blogs, but I'd
love to see your quilts somewhere. I didn't see an obvious link on your

Thank so much for the nice welcome!

I have a small set of quilt photos on Flickr. You can see them here:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/8219072@N05/sets/72157600204114910/

I also have some on my "personal" blog - http://joanoh2.blogspot.com
but I'm not sure how many are there.

What is "QI"???

I actually haven't had much time to quilt for several months now. Life
keeps getting in the way :( I just recently decided to set aside one
day a week where I would stay away from the computer, from blogging,
from email, from housework, and from babysitting -- and dedicate it to
just quilting. I have a lovely quilt room that's just gathering dust
and keeps calling my name!

The link took me to a private page, Joan. Could you 'tick the box - or
whatever you have to do!' so that we can get access to your pictures?

(I should know how, as I am on Flickr, too, but I don't. Sorry!)

A QI is a Quilt Inspector, and they are usually our pets of whatever
variety - usually four-legged and furry, but there are some birds
around, too!

If you can set aside a whole day, away from the things you mentioned,
you're a 'better man than I am Gungha (sp?) Din'!

Hi Joan,

I'm echoing Patti here--can't see your Flickr pics. :-(

I had to ask the same question when I first came to RTCQ. "Quilt
Inspector" usually of the furry, four-footed variety. Scanning through
your lovely personal blog I did see a picture of a gray kitty. Perhaps
s/he is your QI?

I hear that! You'd better answer that siren call. :-)

As Pat said, you have a "private" page set up, so we can't see it. :(

> What is "QI"???

QIs are usually -- but not always -- four-legged and furry, though they
can have feathers and two legs or scales and no legs. <g>

Again as Pat said, "you're a better man than I am, Gunga Din"! I can't
seem to stay away from the computer, the housework, etc. But having my
computer in my quilting room does help. ;)

We all love chocolate and quilting. So, have a cuppa tea/coffee/

Hi, Joan!

I rarely do blogs, but yours may change my mind. Haven't been able to
figure out where your quilt pics are, though :-(

Just realized you're only about 2 hours away (Indy) !

The group is terrific, and even though many of the folks have been
here for *years, newcomers are always welcome and welcomed.

Enjoy!

Hi Joan,

Yep. It has your blog icon and no photos. It looks like there should
be photos there. The little strip up in the corner so a person can
browse through is there, but it is blank. Sorry again!

when you upload pix into flickr you have to be sure you set them to be seen
by the public, not for private viewing only.
the pix need to be edited, possibly one at a time.
i checked that yesterday and it is rather a convoluted way to get that done
but it is attainable with some perseverence.

Greetings, JoanOH! Welcome to the Land of RCTQ. We have fun
here, no moderator, no rules. The only thing you really need to know is that
it is very wise to have your chocolate vetted. Just send a pound or two to
the Office of the Official Chocolate Taster of RCTQ, which is in my Palace
here in Virginia. I will test and taste and report back via email. You don't
have to thank me ... this is my unselfish volunteer duty in RCTQ. A tough
job, but someone's gotta do it. :)
