Dear Fellow Cross Stitchers,
Help, help, please!!!! Does anyone have any patterns for Christian Christmas
ornaments called Crismons? I want to make some for our tree at church this
year. Would appreciate any patterns, magazines, books or any other information
about them.
Thanks,
Cheryl

This site has beautiful free Christian patterns that could easily be made into
ornaments.

Calling Deb Bergman - are you out there tonight?

If Deb will oblige and post her URL, she designs a monthly chrismon (I
thinks she changed the name a while back after receiving a nastygram from
another group that also designed these popular items) and puts them on her
website for free. I'm sure she'd be delighted of you stitched them for the
church tree. (If you were planning on selling the ornaments, I'd ask her
about that, though.) I'd start there.
Good luck-
kristin

Please let me know too! I used to have some cross stitch pamplets with
these designs that you work in gold thread on white and frame in little
gold rings to hang on the tree. I can't find them. I hunted everywhere
last year because my church needs some new ornaments. I am not a
crafter
that does any stitching to sell!! I do not have enough time to do what
I want or finish gifts I've promised ;-)

Thanks so much,

Greetings,

Kristin and Mj - thanks for all the flowers, you have no idea how much they
mean to me <blush> ;-)

I've collected a little info on internet Chrismon sites as well as the names
of other design leaflets that may be of interest.

While it appears that Chrismons in various forms have been in use for more
than the last 40 years, according to the web page
http://www.gamewood.net/~chrismon/index.htm "Chrismons ornaments were first
developed in 1957 by Francis Kipps Spencer, a member of Ascension Lutheran
Church, Danville, Virginia when she set out to create decorations
appropriate for a church Christmas tree. Using traditional Christian
symbols, she intended Chrismons ("Christ monograms") to represent the life
and ministry of Christ." Check out the rest of this site for more info and
some neat pictures

The email address given there is chri...@gamewood.net
Along with this address:
Chrismons Ministry
Ascension Lutheran Church
314 West Main Street
Danville, Virginia 24541
Phone: 804-792-5795

Ascension Lutheran Church has put out a series of books showing how to make
Chrismons from styrofoam, wire and beads that would be of help to you. If
you can't get the book in your local Christain bookstore then write the
church at the address above.

If you are interested in more crossstitch chrismons check out the leaflets
"Christian Monograms" and "Christian Monograms II" from Pat Waters through
Country Crafts. The Heirloom Shop in Jackson Mississippi publishes 2
leaflets called "Christman Heirlooms, Book 1 and Book 2". These are the
books
that use gold tones on white and then frame in little gold(plastic) frames.

As for my site you can go to
http://www.dplus.net/deb_bergmann/PatternOfTheMonth.html
Be sure to check the archive - there are 12 months worth at a time.
If you need something in particular, just drop me a line and I'll add it
to the list. If you are going to stitch these as gifts, items for sale with
all
proceeds going to charity or for church use then have at. Please don't
kit them or resell them. If you find a way to make heaps and gobs of
money from them, let me know (I'll only take a small cut!)

Hope this helps and that you have a wonderful time with your projects.
I would love to see pictures of some of the Christmas trees people have
emailed about.

God bless all of you.
