This past weekend, my dad and brothers went to a hunting camp for a hunting
weekend. Mom was sad about being alone so I said I would spend the weekend with
her. She only lives 8 miles away so it was not far. We decided to make it a
craft weekend.
Sat, I got there midafternoon, and we had tea and then I showed her how to make
a flower fairy out of silk flowers and some other bits and pieces. They make
cute little plant pokes. We then had dinner and watched It's A Wonderful Life.
I stitched through the movie and finished a little teacup I had been working
on.
Sunday it was a dreary rainy day but after church we had breakfast and then I
show mom how to make fabric covered boxes using matboard. These are nice for
showcasing small pieces of stitching as the boxtop. After lunch my aunt came
over to join us and mom showed us how to paint glass balls for Christmas. We
finished them the next morning with some paint rub-ons and a final coat of
glitter spray. That night we watched The Wedding Dress on tape and then watched
Loves Music Loves to Dance--I love Mary Higgins Clark's books(though the movies
are never as good)
Monday after breakfast and finishing the ornaments, I showed them how to make a
snowman sweatshirt. We used Warm n Natural batting for the snowman and washable
felt for the rest and blanket stitched them into place. Turned out really cute!
We then had a tea party with cucumber sandwiches along with a bunch of other
stuff and then I had to go back to the real world. But it was a wonderful
weekend with mom! I am so glad we got to spend the time together!

What a completely heavenly weekend! I bet a lot of us wish we could have
joined you but then it wouldn`t have been the same. My Mum wasn`t a craft
person at all unfortunately, apart from knitting and dressmaking - only
USEFUL crasfts, none purely for fun.

Fortunately my younger daughter and I love doing all those things and often
have fun together - or long phonecalls talking about things like that. It`s
so NICE when Mums, Aunts and daughters get on so well, isn`t it?

I was quite surprised when we went to see our son`s "new" house (built
around 1780) That he had two of my floral xstitch pictures up on his wall!
He must have "won" them during his divorce, as they were actually given to
his wife. I never imagined he`d want them - far too girly for a large
policeman who was a Royal Marine, I thought!
