:::: doing the happy dance! ::::

I just found out that Roger Reinardy is on AOL. Very neat! I've been
wanting to write and let him know how much I'm enjoying three of his
designs. :-)

Anyone else working on a long-stitch project that Reinardy has designed?
I'm doing his "Living Legends of Fishing" right now, and have a few
stitches completed on "Country Manor." I've got a winter wildlife kit in
my stash pile, which I need to start on by August to finish as a holiday
gift.

I don't know exactly why, but I used to feel 'guilty' about long-stitch...
However, all the guilt went right out the window when I realized just how
much *fun* I have with it. And hanging on my office wall is a very
spectacular Reinardy tiger, which Mom did for me -- *gorgeous*!

If you know of other long-stitch designers, please let me know. These
designs seem to be kind of hard to find, which is a shame.

I did see it:) Just got my issue today at the local Wally Mart. I can't
help it, I do want to learn long stitching. It looks easy though. I'd
love to get hold of those two figure charts, and the wolf, polar bear,
etc ones. They are beautiful. And I admit, he sounds like a nice guy to
talk to. He likes talking to his fans and such....all of that.

Hey Cat,

Did you read the article in the June "The Stitchery"Magazine? They devoted
an article to Roger Reinardy and his designs. According to the article,
there are more than 150 long-stitch, xstitch, and needlepoint designs
available at "The Janlynn Corporation" Order number is 800-654-6114,
address is Alpine Import, 7106 North Alpine Road,
Rockford, IL 61111
The sample they have pictured in the article is beautiful, called Winter
Whites. So tell me, how difficult is long-stitch? Hmmm, maybe another
form of stitching to investigate? Let's see, as if xstitch and blackwork
don't keep me busy enough!?
Good Luck!

Hi, Cindy/gael

Jody was kind enough to write me with info on "The Stitchery" article, and
I'm sure looking forward to reading it! Thanks! And thank you *very* much
for the information on Janlynn. Hooray!

Long-stitch isn't difficult at all, honestly. Please do try it; I'm sure
you'll enjoy it. I kind of 'eased into' getting back into needlework with
long-stitch kits, simply because I wanted something easy, relatively
quick, and a project I could do while I watched TV. (Yeppers, I'm still at
the point where the easiest counted cross-stitch requires my full
attention. :::: blush :::: But I'm getting the hang of it all and enjoying
the learning process in a major way.)

In my stash pile, I've got "Winter Whites," and it's next on my to-do
list. I went and took another look at it; now I'm even more enthusiastic
about starting it. I'm making good progress on "Living Legends of
Fishing," but need to drop back and work on my Victorian houses
(needlepoint), too. (The good ol' "10 Hour Rule.")

Dare I buy more? Sure! Why not? After all, there can never be too much
stash or too many UFOs! LOL!

Thanks again for all the wonderful information -- it is greatly
appreciated. :-D

I did a Reinardy (I'm pretty sure) long-stitch of biplanes and a rainbow
several years ago for my Dad. It did go pretty quickly and was fairly
easy to do. It looks wonderful hanging beside the sliding glass door.
It was pretty big though, maybe 9-12 inches wide and two feet long?
It's been a while since I've seen it.

I bought the magazine to do Web of Life sometime.

Seeing this thread reminds me ...

My *first* cross stitch, done about 10 years or so ago, was a Roger
Reinardy design, adapted from a long stitch design. It was called
"Unicorn Fantasy", and was stitched from Leisure Arts Leaflet 263,
which had four designs - 2 adapted from long stitch, one adapted from
needlepoint and one adapted from crewel. DH has insisted on putting
it in the hall, so that *he* can show it off to visitors (although if
I stitched it now I know I could do it better).

My second project was "And Baby Makes Three" - a picture of three
bears - from the same leaflet.

As I still have the leaflet, I may get around to doing the other
designs, one of these years ...

Jacky Perkins.
