oh. they're lovely. i have been fan of may gibbs from an early age.
i'm currently working two of her flower fairies (delphinium & sweet pea)
& have some more of the cross stitch designs of her art in my stash.

These are darling, Pauline. I have a question, though -- what's meant
by "cotton 10.5", "linen 12", and so on? These numbers seem awfully
low to be holes per inch.

well if you turn yourself upside down & think "down under style"
it all makes sense. 8-) we're decimal (i.e centimetres & litres), so
the counts are threads/centimetre.
the stadia website (http://www.stadia.com.au) has a conversion
chart in their catalogue of linen. 12threads/centimetre is about
30threads/inch linen.
i don't know why they do this, probably because their linen is
sourced from permin & they'd be decimal over in denmark as well.
99% of other shops in oz. use the imperial measurements for
thread counts.

... or just multiply by 2.5 to get the count per inch (i.e. 10.5/cm is about
26/inch). This is approximate, but a lot quicker than waiting for web pages to
load :-)
