Hi There everyone,
Somebody posted that the "Flower Fairies" by Cicely Mary
Barker are still available as counted cross-stitch kits, is this
true?????
I bought the "Red Clover Fairy" kit in Holland 15 years
ago, it is finished and hanging in our main bathroom. I would
love to stitch a "mate or two" for it.
If anyone knows where to get these kits please let me
know, I would be forever grateful.
Oh yeah, I wouldn't mind knowing if anyone has seen
these paintings as "collector's plates" too. I know they were
on the market several years ago, but it was before I was "into"
collecting plates. Thanks for that info too :)
Take care and happy stitching, Linda :) (the one in Canada)

also. I have several prints of the "Flower Fairies" scattered about my
bedroom and would love to be able to stitch them, they really are just
charming! (And the Candytuft Fairy looks just like my youngest daughter

I just returned yesterday from a week in England (will post later about
my purchases there) and saw these in a shop in Broadway. They had only
just come in (the shop owners were putting the price tags on them). They
are just lovely! My mom bought three that I am going to do for her.
Can't wait to get to them. If there is a book out there somewhere with
all the designs, I would love to know it. I want to do more that just
the three and would like to have them for myself.

Yes, it is true. They are Eva Rosenstand kits. I am generally not a
"kit" person, but I assure you that these kits come with excellent quality
linen, cut bigger than I'd have it custom cut (the fabric is 10" longer
and 10" wider that the stitched design), and Eva Rosenstand floss, which
is as good, probably better, quality than DMC or Anchor, and very clear
charts. I'm working on the Apple Blossom Fairy at the moment (one of
several "active UFO's." It's the one with the mother and baby fairies on
a branch; very sweet.
The US distributor for these kits is Merry Cox. You can contact her at:
Eva Rosenstand
P. O. Box 185
Clovis, CA 93613-0185
(209) 292-2241
You can send for a catalog of available kits. The price is $5.00.

There are two companies that make them, the one I bought was from Eva
Rosenstand via a local shop. The contact address I have for The US (No
Canadian contact given) is

This is a kit that includes its own house brand of floss, and I had a
problem with it so I just substituted DMC floss for it all to save what
was left of my sanity.

That makes two of us. AFIK, these patterns are only available in kits, but
the Rosenstand pattern of the Poppy is a delight. I just wish Willow and
Wild Rose were also available.
