Thanks for clarifying that - I just got carried away in my excitement and
forgot to mention that it is a trade show only. I can't wait to see all of
the new designs that you mentioned. I can see my stash growing
inch-by-inch, day-by-day. My mouth is watering already!!

I also will have a new Sampler *Home Again*. I'm very excited
since it is a bit different from my usual style AND it features
a poem by my Grandmother, Mary Eliza Bond Boord, who was a
published poet.
I'll also have the Tiny Tillies of my Hat Pin Collection which
are Painted Canvas with Stitch Guides (I have just one up on my
Home Page, so far)I've already received a request to convert
them to Cross Stitch and I'm giving the idea serious
consideration!
My Alphabet Book will be there as well. It has been a real hit
with Needlepointers!
Charlotte, here we come!!!!

other Designers at Charlotte!

<Nan steps up to the mic and displays her ignorance. Again> What sort of changes
need to be made to a needlepoint chart in order to stitch it as a cross stitch
piece?

The only one I can think of is removing the back stitch.

WIP: #1 - getting my health back
California Sampler, Holiday Snowglobe, Teen Creed, America the Beautiful
(Nimble Needle), antique green doll (Vervaco)

Go for it, I say!

BTW - they arrived today, will go to the framer tomorrow and
they look great!!! Thanks for such a wonderful job!
Nan, basically you do a straight conversion of one cross stitch
for every tent stitch. Painted Canvas to cross stitch is usually
pretty simple. The big exception would be a NP piece with lots
of specialty stitches.
Tink
Thank you so much. I'm so happy that you are pleased with the samplers. I
can't wait to see them on your website.
I love the idea of converting some of your needlepoint to cross stitch, but
I certainly wouldn't want to do it over one of your beautiful handpainted
canvases - is there any other way? Maybe I should just frame the canvas
itself - they are such wonderful works of art. How do you think that would
work??

You are making me blush!
Actually, some people DO just hang the Canvases. I think Lula's
dsigns are a perfect candidate for that but the addition of
wonderful threads and stitchers takes ANY painted canvas the
next step into a work of art. The collaboration between Designer
and Stitcher is one of the most exciting aspects of Painted
Canvas, for me. When I see what some of the Stitchers in my ANG
Chapter can do, I'm speechless!

Seems to be quite a few people in the needlepoint world that do buy
painted canvases to frame as is......I've been told many of my designs
end up that way.....very flattering....
A hand painted canvas is a work of art, each one an original.
I paint my canvases the same way I paint my illustrations.
I have several canvases hanging in my studio by designer
friends.....hahaha, enjoying them as is....a pleasure to look at
everyday and know that "someday" I can even stitch them for more
enjoyment!
I feel the same awe Tink, in seeing what stitchers can do with a canvas
design....truly amazing to see individual interpretations of similar
designs.....there have been quite few times looking at these stitched
pieces that have inspired me with new ideas and taught me new
techniques!

Oh! the dreadful green monster is sitting on my shoulder over the casual way
you tossed out that sentence.....I do wish I had that sort of artistic
talent :-))
emerald - never got beyond stick figures
At one time, it never occurred to me that many people couldn't
draw....in my then childish mind, I thought, if I can do it, so can
everyone else! I really didn't know.
However, I'm sure you have many talents of your own and can do many
things I can't do.......
One drawback to living with a paintbrush in hand is not getting any time
to stitch......

THE SWEETHEART TREE - Sandra will be introducing her new Teenie Tweenie Heart
Series for 2001 at Charlotte ... "Tapestry Heart" will be the first design in
the series, depicting the month of January. A Sterling Silver Heart Charm with
a turquoise inlay will decorate this small by ornate heart design. (The new
series will feature Sterling charms with Gem/Crystal Inlay!!!!) This is a
different looking style than her 'usual' stuff ... an elongated
folk heart shape and almost has this wonderful Pennsylvania Dutch folk look to
it (IMHO!).
THE ARTISTS OLLECTION/HEARTSTRINGS - there will be Another LIMITED EDITION
Christmas KIT ... I've only seen a small black and white pen drawing (no detail
.. and I'm not exactly sure that "this" is the drawing of the kit <vbg> but
here goes!) ... picturing a Santa on one side of a Christmas Tree and having a
tug of war over decorations with a Reindeer on the other side ... possibly
entitled "Santa's Little Helper". The Artists Collection says that they will
have
lots more 'surprises' too!
SHEPHERD'S BUSH - They NEVER give us sneak peeks, but this one says it will be
available in SEPTEMBER .... "Blackberrie Sampler" ... stitched on a soft
hand-dyed fabric with silk threads in shades of berry, plum, rose and grey
greens. Hand painted silks and a hand-crafted button will be included in the
KIT. This shows one of SB's "earth people" at the very top with a sheep on
either side of him and rows and rows and rows of band stitching and floral vine
motifs. This looks quite wonderful!!!!!!
WEEKS DYE WORKS - I've heard a 'rumor" that there will be 5 new colors coming
... Lemonade, Cherry Vanilla, Sophie's Pink, Robin's Egg and Lilac.
JUST NAN ... I'm sure you've seen her new items by now, but if not, get thee to
her website and see them all: http://www.justnan.com/whatsnew.htm
PEGASUS ORIGINALS for you MARTY BELL fans ..... 3 new Marty Bell designs.
"Sing a Song of Christmas" which shows carolers in the snow in front of a snow
covered cottage decorated for Christmas.
Parsons Porch which is another beautiful porch scene to follow-up to the design
Brenda's Porch. And, "Birdsong Garden" features a stone walkway that winds
through a garden loaded with flowers which leads to a seating area near with a
birdhouse.
So .. there's some more hints for you! :)

Dori,
Thank you for the kind words on my designs.
A scissors weight is the same as a scissors fob. It is something that is
attached to your scissors(usually with a ribbon or twisted cording) through one
of the handles. In the case of the Remember Me Sewing Pocket
(http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/4801/Remember.jpg), it looks like a little
square pillow. This one actually has one of the 2000 dollar coins in it to
give it a little bit of weight. I find that I am less likely to lose a pair of
scissors if they have something attached to them. Besides they are fun to
stitch and fun to use.
