What do you do when your project is bigger thanthe Q-Snap?

I've got all this fabric flopping around, and I am about to (well here
in Texas we say fixin' to) start The Kiss, which is longer than the
one I have.

What do you do to handle that fabric? Pin it? Put some kind of clamp
on it?

Suggestions would be appreciated.

I usually center my piece on the frame like I want it. Then, before I put the
clamp on...I fold up the excess and put the clamp on top of the excess. The
fabric is then kinda layered between the frame and the clamp. Hope that makes
sense..lol.

I try to have my frame or Q-Snap at least 2 or 3 inches larger than my design
area and then have the fabric another several inches larger than the frame. I
usually fold up the fabric and straight pin it to the fabric around the edge of
the frame or Q-Snap.
I like doing it this way whenever possible because I also fold my working
copy small enough that it can be straight pinned to the excess fabric and I
have it right close to my stitching area. CiaoMeow >^;;^<

I use a hair clip. The kind where you twist your hair up and let the pony
tail like thing hang out the top. The bigger ones fit pretty well over the
Qsnaps and the little one work pretty good with hoops.

I fold my extra fabric up to the frame of the Q-Snap and then use one of
those hair clips that look like two curved combs put together with a
spring.... They fit right around the Q-Snap and hold the fabric out of
the way.

Angie,
I fold the fabric over the q-snap and hold it in place with the hair clamps
that have teeth. Sorry I don't know what they are called.
These really work very well.

Happy Stitching

What a great idea for the Q's, as well as hoops!

Hi Angie,

Here is what I do:

I have all sizes of Q-Snaps and I have created my own sizes by extending the
sides, but when a piece is stil rather large I take plastic wrap lay it out on
the the excess material then roll it as tight as I can get it clipping part of
the plastic wrap under the sides of the q-snap to hold it in place. This helps
keep the material out of the way & clean.

Hope this works for you.
