Hmm.... I couldn't get to this newsgroup for a while, had some major
'puter problems. Now I hook back up and I'm seeing several posts about
copyrights, some linked with the subject of the dragon patterns. I posted
about my dragon pattern that I offered for sale here. To date, I have had
18 people respond who wanted to see the pattern. I've also had a few
respond who wanted to give me dire warnings about copyrights.

Folks, lest there be any more misunderstandings........... I am a designer,
I have had my work published for the last 11 years. I have worked with
DMC, Charles Craft and Wichelt Imports as well as the magazines I
originally listed. I don't now, nor have I ever copied anyone else's work.
When I said that my dragons were inspired by Anne McCaffrey's pern novels,
I meant only that I have read her novels, enjoyed them immensely and was
lead to try my hand at drawing dragons. My dragons are not in any way
depicting any character or situation found in Ms. McCaffrey's novels.

I hope this clears things up a bit. Sorry for any misunderstandings that
may still linger out there.

Hi Pegg Thomas

I posted directly to you on Sunday, I hope you got it but I was using my other program
when viewing/sending therefore not sure. I started the last round of Copy Right articles
here. It was nothing you did, but the fact that people where offering to SCAN Anne's
covers and therefore produce charts which they have offered in this newsgroup. This is
not correct, its illegal, stealing someones art work without their consent and not even
asking if its ok. Also a lady who has since withdrawn her offer was talking of using her
daughters drawings of Anne's dragons. Even if its your own art work, if it copies the
written work that is still wrong. So you where not the one, as its your work and NOT a
copy of Anne's ideas there is no problem and I would love to be on your email list for
info about your designs.

Lynn Marie,

*This* is why the woman withdrew her offer. You are wrong here. If you
had read the thread, she was offering charts of her daughter's
interpretations of Pern dragons, *not* specific characters/dragons, just
like the person you say is doing nothing illegal. The reason she
withdrew her offer was because lots of people didn't pay enough attention
to what she had written and sent her nasty e-mail threatening lawsuits
and God knows what else if she produced the charts. Please, take the
time to really read what someone has written before you slam them, either
publicly or privately.
