Hi, I'm from Downunder, and I'm wondering if such an
item exists, ie. coloured grid patterns taken
from famous paintings???

I've seen some finished products, but no one seems to know
where the designs are from.

I thought I saw a book last Christmas that had some in it, but due to
money shortages, I didn't buy it.

Is there anyone out there who knows about these patterns???

Happy stitching

Try

They have several. Sorry I don't know how to make this a click-able
URL. You'll have to type it in.

I know of three patterns available:

Starry Night (van Gogh)
Child with Watering Can (Renoir)
Madame Monet and Child (Monet)

I don't know who produces the charts/kits, but they are in The Stitchery
Catalogue.

Our own Melinda Coss has done a book like this, but I believe it is NP.
Everytime I see one of her books, I have to laugh to myself because I
can't help but think that the book jacket should include important info
like..... and Melinda advises peeing in your DH's shoes for necessary
revenge, as well as getting him to womanize so you can get more projects
done. :)

Well, I'm not sure about XS, but I seem to recall having seen a needlepoint
(which can be adapted) book of patterns based on Monet & other impressionists.
Unfortunately I don't recall the title... I know this probably isn't much
help, I just wanted to say that yes, these do exist *somewhere*. :)

Well, I always give a few helpful warnings in the techniques sections
Lois like advising readers to check that they don't have a cat sitting on
their shoulder etc. I'm saving my matrimonial advice for a future title.
Perhaps I'll call it 'Happy Ever After'(a survival guide for male
encumbered stitchers.)
The patterns in Art Masters In Needlepoint could be used for cross stitch
but they are a bit 'blocky' since there are less stitches in the inch
to play with in needlepoint. I have just, today, re-charted Raphael's
Sistine Madonna Angels for cross stitch. The design will appear in
Handmade
Magazine sometime next year.

You probably saw my book 'Art Masters In Needlepoint' I'm not sure if
Australia would be carrying the UK or US edition so it would either
be published over there by Ebury Press or Bullfinch. There are also
a number of printed canvases available covering these works, produced
by William Briggs, Royal Paris and various other manufacturers. Where
are you in OZ?

You are talking about a book by Glorafilia called 'The Impressionist
Collection'. Its a beautiful book using many canvaswork stitches.

That sounds like the right title. I'm from Melbourne, but I actually saw
the book in Sydney when I was up there visiting my parents.

You must have popped in to Tapestry Craft then - they have a lot of
English
books.
