Hi All;
I'm using PCSTITCH 5.01 also and find it pretty user friendly, however I
find that while using it for a period of time (never timed myself) my screen
starts to give me a whole mess of funny squares. I have found out that this
is kind of a warning of worse things to come. The minute this happens to me
I save to a file, then exit PCS, then open PCS and then open the file that I
just saved.
For some reason if I try to continue, I get a "run time error" what ever
that is. It is easy to exit but you lose all your changes, not to nice.
I suspect that the PCS program picks a bit of RAM to work with and too many
changes can overload the amount of RAM that was picked. I'm sure that the
program is not using all available RAM because I have a 128MB powered by a
big block 450 pent iii.
For the most part this happens mainly when I am changing a lot of back
ground colors to one color.
The instructions do say that you should "save" often and this could be my
problem. I get so engrossed in changing colors that I lose track of time.
I haven't got in touch with the PCS people yet to find out what causes this.
Just thought I would pass this along as info.
I have Pattern Maker also but haven't used it much. Mainly because they use
the color black for a spot with no stitch and call it a BLANK. I found that
when part of the subject is black and there is a mottled back ground with
black in and touching the subject, when I try to change the back ground to
blank, it of course paints it black. Now part way through an editing task I
find I can not tell where the subject starts and finishes.
Example; Picture a black line two inches thick running from left to right
across this screen. Let's say the back ground is orange. When I change
orange to BLANK - no stitches, the whole screen would now be black. Now it
is pretty dang hard to see that black line up against a black back ground
that is actually BLANK. It would have been nice to be able to select
whatever color I wanted for BLANK.
There is probably away around this but I haven't used the prog.enough to
find out.
Happy stitching.
