To minimize bookmark-related Netscape crashes, close "Bookmarks" as soon
as it takes you where you want to go. This reduces the incidence of code
conflicts from various and sundry Web sites. PJ

However I must say how surprised I have been at the number of sites I
booked marked back in 1996 that are no longer available, especially
stitching ones.
I am seriously considering a manual indexed notebook with headers such
as tassels then the relevant sites, because when I look into the
bookmarks it is hard to remember why a particular site is there.
Surfin' is good and fine but our online costs down-under are so
horrendous.

What browser do you use? With Internet Explorer you can make folders for
each "group" i.e. Tassels, Charts, Lessons, etc. and place the bookmark in
the appropriate one. If you have any questions, just e-mail me!

My old bookmarks file was so big it caused Netscape 2.0 to take up to a
minute to do anything, even when the bookmarks file was closed. I dumped
the file and now keep my URLs in two spreadsheet files, one for textiles
and one for everything else. They get additions practically every day,
and at the moment the big one, for textile-related sites, has 458.

The real problem has nothing to do with how many bookmarks you have. The cashe files, history and
cookies files must be emptied. Netscape is a disk pig. I use a program every few days to clear this
out and find that I have not had any problems since. The pros at worlndnet help forum suggested this
and now system runs great. If you are running more than one browser this compounds problem.

Gee, this thread has caused me to delurk!
Thanks for the info. I was beginning to think I was obsessive to have pages of
websites addresses that I have copied and printed out.

LOL! I'm going to stitch this and hang it over my computer!

Nothing clever, Marilyn. I don't even bookmark in Netscape anymore. I
copy and paste from the newsgroup or the browser into a ClarisWorks
spreadsheet file. It usually gets printed out once a month or so.

I was just getting ready to ask, "What are BOOKMARKS?" I would like to
understand what these 15 messages were all about. Is "bookmarks" something I
should be concerned about? Please bear with me - I'm just learning.
Thanks for any info re: above,

The same is true for Netscape. I have all of my bookmarks in folders.
It makes it a lot easier to find sites.
Denise
You probably have View set to Unread Messages Only. Check it out. If you
have any questions...e-mail me.
Bookmarks...You store a website address so that you don't have to Search for
it everytime (or rely on memory...which in my case wouldn't get me very
far...though Ginko is helping.) In MS Internet Explorer it is referred to
as Favorites.
