Hi! I need a little help....will be going home to Pittsburgh in July, but I
can't remember where the LNSs are! Especially the ones on the way between the
airport and Zelienople.I've been stitching for a long time, but not really deep
into it until I moved to Houston.Point me in the right direction, please???

I'm afraid I have been away too long to know of the Pittsburgh
needlework stores anymore. I seem to remember hearing good things about
the Stitching Post. That is in Sewickly, I think. That quialifies as
between the airport and Zelienople.
I had to post because of the reference to Zelienople. I hadn't
expected to see the name of my hometown here. Do you have family
there? I couldn't pass up the small world phenomenon.

Do you remember where Greentree is? I started to say, up over the hill, haha..
sorry..
OK.. "The Noble Craftsman" It is in Scott Towne Center at 2101 Greentree Rd.,
Pittsburgh.
I can't go in and walk out empty handed. It's an hour drive for me, 'thank
goodness' :-) or I'd be in big, big trouble more often.

I know alot of places by landmarks and not necessarily the little townships. But
this isn't all that far from the airport, which by the way, if it has been a while
since you've been there. Out not far from the airport, in the area that used to be
Tonidale... now there is a huge, HUGE shopping area .. seems like new stores are
going in all the time. I think I can remember a zillion years ago when it was all
fields. ha

If there are more LNS's, I don't know of them, sorry. Pittsburgh is not my home
turf but where I run away from home to. Good luck.

You might want to call Noble Craftsmen before you go. I hear they are trying
to sell the shop and may be closing if they cannot get a buyer. You can also
try Teatime Stitchery. I love that shop. There is also a small shop called
The Stitching Post in Sewickley. It is fairly new but the owner does framing
and some of her models are just wonderful.

above.)

Susie,

the STitching Post is in Sewickley.
or i should say its a sewickley mailing address.

take the mt. nebo exit off 1-79. if your going north on
i-79 you'll see the mt.nebo exit - turn right and go up
the hill. the stitching post will be on your left.

there use to be a lot of trees around the shop but i've
heard they've cut them all down!

hope this helps

I went to the Noble Craftsmen today and although they do have it for sale it
is not in danger of closing and even if sold, is not closing... so wanted to
clear that up. It's still going to be there <WHEW!>

Yep, I have family there. I was born and raised in Pittsburgh (Bloomfield) but
my family moved north when I was in high school. After my Dad died, Mom sold
the house and went in with DS and DSIL, actually in Evans City.
Yes, it is a small world, isn't it??

I am soooooo glad to hear this. The two women who originally opened this shop were
always willing to help and always some of the nicest people anyone could meet. The
remaining owner and the other current women at Noble Craftsmen are just as great.
For the longest time, it was the closest LNS to me (165 miles away). I stop in
everytime I visit my mother.

My father is from Pittsburg, Clairton/Jefferson Burough to be precise. I
haven't been there for years, but remember it as very green. We won't make
a trip back for a few years - when my grandmother passes, we will bury her
there. (She lives in Utah now).

My, my this is definitely a small world thanks to the internet. My paternal
grandfather's family is from the Clairton/Jefferson Borough! My
great-grandfather's house sits (or it did the last time I was there) on the
main road headed down the hill to Dravosburg. Wonder if we are distantly
related? Have to have my sis look at the genealogy for me.

Anita, in Germany, but headed for PA in about 2 weeks time
