Maggie's in Moncton, NB closed because the building was "sold out from
under them" but they decided not to re-open in the area. I guess that
leaves just the Saint John location in this family group of stores.

Yes, Maggie's building was sold out from under them to make way for yet
another government office building - when there's lots of empty office
space available in Moncton - it makes absolutely no sense. I hope they
reopen somewhere in town. One of our LNS's on the other side of the
river is closing too - Castlegate Crafts - but part of it will be taken
over by Sunflower Fabrics which is relocating to the Riverview Mall the
first part of June - thank heavens we'll have some place to pick up our
stash on this side of the river.

I believe one of the main reasons that Heather's is going out of
business at this time is that Crafts Canada is coming to this area in
the near future. The only other CC that I've ever been in was in Calgary
and I wasn't impressed with their needlework section. Hopefully this one
can be encouraged to carry a wider selection of fibers and fabrics!

When are they closing? Any good deals? I wonder if they are open on
Monday. If so, I just may take a drive over there. When Heather's (in Cole
Harbour) went out of business before, I completed my floss collection.

There is another great store in Moncton called Because You Count. It is on
Collishaw (at Harvey Vaughn, I believe). Staff there is great, and the
selection is wonderful.

I don't believe Castlegate Crafts is open Monday, but I do know they
have some great sales coming up in the weeks prior to their closing on
June 26. Because You Count is a wonderful shop - I go there alot too -
the service is great and the girls are wonderful.

I believe they expect to be closed by sometime in June. Right now
everything in the store is 25% off. I don't know if they are open on
Monday, just give them a call.

Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Calgary and Edmonton (and others I'm sure) have
both LNS's and Crafts Canada. I think they can co-exist quite nicely.
CC has lots of charts and fibers, but is definitely limited in it's
selection of fabric. It is also very limited in getting specific
items.
Here in ToonTown two hobby/craft stores have gone out of business in the
past 5 or so years. Both closed because the owners wanted to retire and
couldn't find buyers for their businesses. The LNS here closed for a
while for personal reasons. Businesses close for a great variety of
reasons; many of them are not financial.
