This is just to let y'all know that if you like Pageant Kings, (from
Treasures in Needlework, premiere issue) there are two companion pieces.
The first is in Timeless Treasures, and is the stable with the
traditional Mary, Joseph, and Jesus. The second is in the BH&G Christmas
Issue, and is the Angels with the Shepherds. The Angels piece is just
the arched center portion, but the traditional Nativity scene has brown
framing around it much like the framing around the arched center portion
from Pageant Kings, including the arch, which believe me, I know well.
Anyway, this is just fyi for those who collect Nativity scenes. I did a
litte checking on the color list, and they are compatible, if not
identical. I can say that the sheep, donkey, and ox are the same colors
throughout, which tells me that it is _not_ an accident.

Elizabeth--

The Pageant Kings piece has been in my to do pile for many years...tell us
more about the sources for the companion pieces. I've never heard of
Timeless Treasures. Is this a magazine, a book, a regular chart? Is it new,
or something that's been on the market for a while? Where can I get it?

I've heard of the BH&G Christmas issue...are the angels and shepherds in
this year's issue?

Of course, I NEED to have the companion pieces...

Elizabeth,

I've also had Pageant Kings since it came in Treaures in Needlework. I
always thought it felt like only a portion of the whole scene. Now that I
know that there are more patterns, I MUST have them. Which issues exactly
are they in? I've never heard of Timeless Treaures, and I had been getting
BH&G Christmas Issues until just recently, and I don't remember this one in
there. Do you have pictures? Web sites where we can order the others? Now
I'm feeling desperate!

I love Nativity scenes, and have several that I have yet to do. I keep
getting called away to make thing for other people, and I can't stitch fast
enough to do all the things I want!

Hope you can help me with more information,
Jo

I just knew that there were other loonies out there like me. I have
actually finished the Pageant Kings (in one year, no less, she says
proudly). The Timeless Treasures is a book put out by BH&G, and the
Nativity Scene in there is definitely meant to companion with Pageant
Kings, as part of it is identical with the brown "frame" around Pageant
Kings. The ISBN is 0-696-21209-9, and it came out in 2000. Glad Tidings,
the Shepherd and Angels piece is in Cross-Stitch Christmas 2001, put out
by BH&G. If you are unable to locate it (my Mom got it for me at Safeway
(a local grocery store)), I can get a copy and mail it out. Since IIRC,
BH&G owns the copyright on Pageant Kings, it would not totally surprise
me if they had commissioned these to be companion pieces. Each is by a
different designer, PK is by Sandy Orton, GT is by Camille Harrison, and
Nativity is by Barbara Sestok. Neither has a verse at the bottom or the
pictures at the top, but I have a bazillion Christmas charts and mags,
and have been picking out stuff so they will be true companions.

Yes, it is called Glad Tidings, by Camille Harrison. Timeless Treasures
is one of BH&G's annual Christmas hardback books. I got it at the used
bookstore, and didn't really look through it all that closely until I
was looking for small pictures to use with Glad Tidings. Imagine how
excited I was to find the Nativity. I have others, but this one matches.
DH was heard to mutter something about having a permanent Christmas
display up, but with 100 plus hours in each one, I am _not_ putting them
away :-).

Well, Elizabeth, with your hints, I amazed myself by finding that I _have_
Timeless Treasures! I even bought soley for the Nativity, but never put the
Kings together with it in my mind. Thank you for doing that for me. Now I
just have to find Cross-Stitch Christmas 2001. I will look for it here.
Did it just recently come out? Barnes and Noble may have it... If they
don't, I would be very grateful for a copy, but I want to try and track it
down on my own before bother you with it.

I;m very excited now!

Many thanks,
Jo
