I always say...
"I can imagine 10,000 butterflies floating across the hill and I can
write the instructions for 10,000 butterflies floating across the hill
but...It's the stitcher that makes the 10,000 butterflies appear"
(They can also be stitched so badly they look like wads of colorful
gum...lol)
The process of stitching is the art..the place your soul goes to while
the needle weaves magic is the true feeling of creation...maybe that's
why we give the finished pieces away...because our joy of the process is
more than the pride of the finished admiration?

very well said... I do get a great deal of pleasure out of the process:
from selecting the design & matls, to stitching, to packaging/wrapping, to
the delight on recipient's faces. I do have a few pieces of mine that I've
kept (but very few are framed or completely finished).
