Hello all,
I am finally in California - sort of. Still have home in Dallas but I
am flying out of San Jose.
Anyway, need some info on needlework stores in or around San Jose. I think
I will live either in Freemont or San Ramon, but for a LNS I will drive.
Thanks for any input.
Letty

I was in the San Jose area for a while. There is (or was) a good shop just
south of San Jose called the Continental Stitch. I can't remember the name
of the town, but it was between San Jose and Gilroy, off the 101. The phone
number is (408) 779-5885. Lots of stuff, but would not cut a piece of
fabric. The prices for other stuff were normal, though. I did not try the
framing, but they do their own.

Give me a ring when you arrive, I can show you all the "bad places to go in the
Bay" will about 28 beading, knitting, needlepoint, and stitching shops be too
much for you though?

Also can put you in touch with EGA and ANG.

Hi Letty -
I am an ex-San Josean (is that a real noun?) and still have some
names/numbers of shops to pass along - it's been a few years since I
lived there so I would call first to confirm they're open and to get
directions.
The shop mentioned south of San Jose is probably Continental Stitch in
Morgan Hill. (408) 779-5885; as I recall they carried knitting and
stitching supplies.
Another nice shop is Golden State Sewing Center in Campbell - sewing
machines, quilt fabrics and stitching - (408) 866-1181. Local EGA
chapter used to have an evening "stitch-in" there once a month also.
Another couple of shops, although I'm not as familiar with them, are:
The Makings in Los Gatos (408) 356-7770; Running Thread in Cupertino
(408) 257-2720; Exclamation Point (lots of needlepoint) in Saratoga
(408) 867-7550; Sweet Child of Mine in Sunnyvale (408) 720-8426;
Carolea's Knitche in Sunnyvale (408) 736-2800 - a few doors up from
the Lace Museum :)
Further up the Peninsula in Burlingame is The Status Thimble and they
have a web page at http://www.thestatusthimble.com/

Happy shopping!!

I believe the Running Thread in Cupertino has been closed for a couple of
years.

I am so glad to hear that! It's a wonderful shop. I went by right before I
moved (again) and the original was closed up with no *moved* sign. I'm glad
to know it wasn't a casualty. This was a couple of years ago, at least.
