Elsa Williams died several years ago but her designs were or are still
being produced and distributed as kits - I think by Johnson Creative
Arts in W. Townsend, MA.
I have several of her beautiful crewel kits bought in the early days of
my needlework addiction still stored in a big wicker trunk to be done
someday.....

I believe Elsa Williams died a couple of years ago. Last December
at the JCS seminar in Williamsburg I saw several of her kits in the
bookstore at the Visitors Center. Some of them were available as
leaflets as well as kits but the one I wanted "The Seasons of
Williamsburg" was only kit :-(. However the kits do contain linen
and pre-sorted floss. I plan to attend this year's seminar and am
looking forward to spending more time in that bookstore.

Write to Johnson Creative Arts, Inc. they bought out Elsa Williams when she
retired to California. They still do put out some of her designs in kits.
They have a catalog and will send it to you. Address is: 445 Main Street, West
Townsend, MA 01474.
They also bought the building that was used as a school. Some of the pieces in
the building were auctioned off. What she did herself is still there.
At one time I was going to attend her her school but never got there. Some
months ago I found the catalogs that she sent out containing information about
her school and what was being taught. Her designs were lovely. She is one of
the old timers. There are not too many left.

I too have a couple of Elsa Williams designs put away, both on Irish linen.
One is a bell pull and the other a tree of life. Have all the crewel wool to
do them with as well. Wonder if I'll ever get them done....maybe someday?
