You might remember that I posted here a while ago about missing floss
from the Candamar Wolves design kit.
Well, I finally received a response from them. I asked for a conversion
chart to DMC which they said they would send me. They also offered to
send replacement thread if I could tell them which thread was missing
(which I couldn't, since I couldn't compare the various greys to see
which was which).
Anyway, the conversion chart arrived in the mail this week. FYI Candamar
Designs use Anton floss in their kits, and if anyone is interested in
the conversion chart let me know and I'll send you a copy (since I'm
allowed to distribute it).
Thanks,
Kathryn

You will find their colors pretty much match DMC and Anchor.
Hope this information helps you.

Yeah! Another one I can answer<G>.
Anton Floss is really 'Robison-Anton' commercial flosses, normally
used in machine embroidery.
It comes in 1 lb cones and is only 4 ply, they also make mini-cones of
floss and various threads also.
The ones you find in cross-stitch kits is most often their #7
Polyester Floss. To the best of my knowledge they only have 35 shades
of floss colors.
I am familiar with them, because I recently ordered a mini-spool 4 oz,
of their glow in the dark floss they sell under the trade name
Moonglow. Still trying ideas for that apparition of an angel I have
been working with for the past six months.
Their flosses are really designed for high-production machine use, not
the ideal product for cross-stitching.
If your curious, they do have a website, search for Robison-Anton and
it should pop up in your browser.

Actually Anton 6 ply floss for Cross Stitch is not available retail except as part of Candamar Design kits,
according to the letter they sent me. The quality is not as good as DMC or Anchor, but it is beter than some of
the cheap floss you find in kits. There are approximately 244 colours in their 6 ply line.
Thanks,
Kathryn

All thread manufacturers sell their product on cones. The cones are usually
one pound and have approximately 2,000 continuos yards. Companies like mine,
Caron Collection, Weeks and other specialty thread producers are technically
converters of product. We buy in bulk, do our thing to the thread, repackage
it and sell it.
Just an added bit of info for you.

I just wanted to add that Robison-Anton does make 6-ply cotton floss
but usually only under private contract.
I think Bucilla is their primary customer for 6-ply and most of their
colors are custom Bucilla only colors.
I have heard they also supply kit manufacturers but have not seen it
mentioned anywhere other than as rumor topics.
