Does anyone know the name of the company that publishes
a chart for the "Portrait of Elegance" adaptation shown
in the Stitchery Spring Preview catalog on page 43.
As usual, the Stitchery offers the kit only.

It depicts a Victorian woman and is done on mushroom
lugana. It's very detailed. Gorgeous!

Any pointers to the name of the designer or publishing
company would be muchly appreciated.

Thanks!

Portrait of Elegance is a Dimensions Gold Collection Kit. It is a
kit only and probably will remain a kit only for quite some time.
The Gold Collection is a relatively new line for Dimensions. Is is
their "higher end". You might have seen them in the black glossy
bags with supplies tucked inside.

Lenore,
I have seen two different versions of the Portrait of Elegance. One is
by Dimensions and the other, I think was a sunset kit. The second kit
was a gross distortion of the other image. The artist that copied the
original painting had not talent what so ever, and the result is a
disproportionate figure, not at all graceful.

The first kit, Dimensions, has been a nightmare to stitch. I have this
beast partially stitched and stuffed in a closet for now. The fabric is
not Lugana but some much heavier and tighter weave canvas. The fabric is
cut so that you have one inch on each side of the design area. If you
want to lace the fabric for framing FORGET IT. I tried to buy a larger
piece of fabric for this kit, but he store near me (biggest in the USA)
couldn't identify the fabric or manufacturer. (The mushroom color in the
kit doesn't match the mushroom color used by Zweigart either.)

Dimensions has you stitch the white dress using four strands of floss on
this very tight weave. This is why the kit is stuffed into a closet.
Trying to get the four strands into the holes of the canvas was pure hell.
Trying to get the floss to lie smoothly after all that was impossible.
(They are not DMC colors. I checked that too.)

You may not care for the color of the skin tones either. On the
packaging she has delicate victorian tones. In the kit she has a pink
and peach color that is closer to flowers than skin. The last time I had
skin this color I also had blisters from a sun burn.

Shop carefully. The original is a museum oil painting but I can't recall
the artist's name just now.
