Hi, all,

DMC has announced that it is discontinuing Flower Thread in December of this
year. If you want some better find it now.

What about all of the Curtis Boehringer patterns I have....they all call for
DMC Flower Thread. And I like using it on different things. What will be a
close substituion? Ginny T. Thread is not accessible in my area. Any
suggestions forn the group will be greatly appreciated. Ardie

You might want to try Danish Flower Thread which has been around for years--at
least 20 that I'm aware of personally but many more than that in total time. I
do know that Sue Lentz carries this brand (just a satisfied customer).

That is one solution but I really like using it more for the texture and the
matte finish. Also I have to go with what I can obtain locally or from
catalogs or online. And DMC Flower thread seems to be the one I can always
count on finding. Nordic Needle carries it. Ardie

Yeah, true. Unfortunately there are a lot of flower thread colors that
don't have a corresponding DMC floss equivalent. I wanted to do the
Boehringer 12 days of Christmas charts using stranded cotton, but got
frustrated trying to find color matches for all of the flower thread
colors used (made particularly difficult since my LNS doesn't carry
the whole flower thread line). I have now begun doing them using the
flower thread. I have bought the thread for the first two days and am
currently working on day 1. Not sure if I will try to buy the thread
for all 12 days now, before it's discontinued, or whether I will just
bag it and only do day 1. It's a lot of thread, and I may never finish
them, no matter what...I don't know. Regardless, I'm bummed about this
announcement. Flower thread is just right on 18 ct fabrics -- and is
fun, to boot!

Anyone seen an Anchor thread called Nordin? I bought some in Germany in
April, and it looks suspiciously like Flower Thread to me, and is marked
100% cotton. Despite extensive research <BG> I have been unable to find
this in shops in England, so maybe it has another name in English?
