A friend recently gave me this group to check for stitching information.
I have been reading for several days now and I have to tell you that I
was stunned and really disappointed in what I am seeing. I don't know
who is right or who is wrong over any subject, but I can tell you that
from what I have seen, I won't be coming back. I was looking for some
friendships, but obviously this isn't the place. There are a couple of
people here who seem to be very hostile while telling you how wonderful
they are (?). They seem to me to just want to cause trouble and enjoy
conflict.

I haven´t seen a note where you introduced yourself, telling us that you are
looking for friends. But well, if this is your opinion, so " Good Bye ".

I for myself ignore posts I don´t agree to and can say I found some
wonderful friends in this group, much help and support and I can´t wait to
meet the " Atlanta Bunch " soon.

Happy Stitching

You have joined the group at a time when there has been major conflict
over the copyright issue. This pops up every so often, and many of the
people who have been here for more than a year or two will either give
an opinion once or twice, then killfile, or ignore the thread entirely.

To be fair to the regular posters, the group has been inundated by
numerous newbies, whose biggest desire seems to be to keep fanning the
flames. When one thread dies down, someone posts the same topic with a
new header, and it starts all over again.

May I suggest you skip some of the more contentious issues and follow
threads like "What was the latest chart you bought", etc. You will find
the newsgroup a pleasant place to visit if you ignore the obviously
antagonistic threads. There really are many helpful people here.

Now, please introduce yourself and tell us what you're working on, what
kind of stitching you like to do, etc.

Please don't let the words of a few dissuade you from hearing what the many
talented members of this ng have to say.

We are a very interesting and friendly group, and I have gained valuable
stitching tips as well as many a good laugh here.

Come in, sit down, and share!

The thought had crossed my mind that it was one of the Carla-clones trying to
guilt some of us for taking a stand.

I won't be guilted into shutting up, either.

If you leave the group because of the annual copyright wars, it's your loss. I
happen to like hanging out in a group of intelligent women who can discuss
things like law to the point of dissecting it word by word.

Every online group has these people who have to tell you how terrible you are
before they leave. I always say, Good Riddance. Might sound callous, but what
would you think of a person who walked into a room full of your friends,
acquaintances, hung out in a corner and never said a word - and then announced
to the room that you were a bunch of losers as they stormed out the door?
Pretty silly when you look at it that way. I have stuck my head into hundreds
of online groups. I lurk for awhile to get a feel for the group - see if they
are discussing what I thought they would be discussing (for the most part<G>)
and then I either stick around and add my 2 cents here and there or I just
leave. Sometimes, I go back to see if things have changed. But I usually just
find another place to hang my hat.
