I know it's only Saturday, and Mother's Day is officially until tomorrow, but
the florist just delivered the most beautiful flowers and a box of candy from
my oldest DS. That in itself would be enough, but he is stationed somewhere in
Kuwait/Iraq ("I can't tell you where I am or what I'm doing Mom) so it makes
them that much more special. He's the one that was the most "challenging"
growing up. There were days when I swore he won't make his next birthday. But
he has turned out really, really well, and we're really proud of him. The only
downside is it has made me cry and now I can't see to stitch LOL. But I'll
suffer.

Hope your mother's day is a great.

Isn't it wonderful when despite all our worries they turn out to be children we
can really be proud of. I know we're all proud of our kids, but some of us (me)
wondered if they would ever live long enough to get there. Thankfully both of
mine are grown, are responsible and best of all, they are close enough by so
that they can give me my Mother's Day present in person. I know how much that
would mean to a lot of you, so I consider myself especially blessed.
Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful Mothers on this board.

How wonderfully special, Pat! You must be so proud of your son - I
hope he is home safely very soon. Happy Mother's Day to you and all.
Best wishes, Paula B.

Boy, Sometimes they can really throw you for a loop, can't they?

Oh Pat: wasn't that a lovely gesture from your son? I'm sure he
will be coming home soon. My son's unit is coming home -refueling
group, 6th eng. battalion (my son is already here, he broke his foot
and got sent home), my friend Virginias son is on his way home right
now (he's with the 2nd Marine division, drives a tank). I hope you
get that lucky phone call really soon with your son telling you he's
on his way home too!
I got the Jane Greenoffs Cross Stitchers Bible for my M-Day
present- I've been eyeballing it for a long time.......can't wait to
sit down and take a really good look at it! I hope all of you have a
special and wonderful Mothers Day.

I agree with the others---*wonderful* present! My coworker's
son, stationed on the Theodore Roosevelt, woke her up yesterday morning
with a call from Spain saying they were painting the ship and would
then be coming home!
DS#1 (19) really surprised me with the Ultimate Stitch
program!!! I haven't heard anything about this one--anyone else have
it? It's for stitching, knitting and crochet and has Organized
Expressions with it. I'm itching to try it out! :)
DS#2 (17) gave me some flowers to plant in my flower garden
and DD (16) gave me a large bag of chocolate licorice! I must say,
they know their mama!!! :)))) I think this is the first year they've
each given me a present purchased with their own money!

Isn't it wonderful when our kids amaze us?? My son is in the Navy, stationed
in Jacksonville. He was undoubtedly the problem child growing up, and it
didn't help when his Dad died when Mike was 16. I figured he would either
make a go of the military, or land up in the brig. Well, he now has 20 years
in, and is a Senior CPO ( unmarried). Anyway, we spent a couple of nights
in Jax on our way south. He called us up, and said he wanted to kidnap Mom
for Saturday afternoon. I had no idea of his plans, but he took me to a
winery in St Augustine, and after the tour we sat on the roof nibbling
cheese and meats, sipping wine, and enjoying a jazz group. After that he
took me to a private club, where he is a member, right on the ST John's
river. It made a lovely treat, and totally astonished me that he would plan
anything like this.

It is nice to share when our kids do something nice!!
