Hi everyone...

I posted a few weeks ago about the Smoky Mountain Cats design
and thanks to many of you I now have the pattern on order at my LNS :)

I have stitched a few cat designs which are...the Kats by
Kelly charts of "In Sync" and "Gone Fishin'"...both of them are really
cute! Btw, I changed the flower colours to 223 pink and 503 green to
blend with the colours in my house....they look great.

I've also stitched two designs from Leisure Arts Leaflet 349,
Cats and Flowers, they are "Enchanted Garden" and "Hide 'n' Seek",
these were lots of fun to stitch. I stitched ."Reflection" from
Leisure Arts Leaflet 467 for a friend's 50th birthday a few years ago.

So what are your favourites?

Take care, Linda :)

I too like the Calico Crossroads, Kats by Kelly. "Baroque" is a scream!

Have you seen Donna Giampa Vermillion's Cat Alphabet? Every time is see it in a
Stitchery catalog I think-I really ought to get that chart!

I love the Smoky Mountain Cats and it's on my wish list, so keep us posted
on when you start it.
But my favorite cat design is Max's Moon. It's in my to-do pile.

I'm not into cats in a big way, but I am nuts about the Persian (?) cat
that was on the cover of Just Cross Stitch one or two issues ago. It is a
Teresa Wentzler, and definitely on my to-do list.

I just got her Cat Welcome in the mail and can't wait to start it.
(after all the Christmas gifts are finished around February or March
:-} ) Yesterday I thought it would make a good house warming gift for
my db and sil, but they'll just have to make their own.

I have to agree with Barbara on this matter. I am a dedicated cat lover,
but I wanted to have pieces which were more formal (not cutsie-wootsie
LOL).
Reflecting a lot of other designs in my stash, the JCS "Tapestry Cat" is
a must-have. I can't wait to start, just as with so many others.
P.S. I have taught my five yr old DD some level of respect with
"Mommy''s stitching". Nevertheless, she catches me with a good remark
here or there. Upon seeing the "Tapestry Cat" on the cover of JCS ad
knowing that Mommy wants to do it eventually, she asks "are you going to
stitch that for our kitties (finished pillow for our 2 shedding cats)?"
Haaaaaa!!!!!

I think my all time favorite cat charts are Bob Harrison's. In one
of his booklets call Innocence, there is a picture of mama cat with
kitten sleeping in her arms which is absolutely beautiful. Another
nice chart in the book is a kitten looking in a pool of water at his
reflection. These charts are done mostly in half cross stitch with
the eyes and noses done in full cross. They are all stunning.

I wasn't able to find it either. I looked at the "new designs", and found a
couple of things to drool over, though.

My favorite is the one I stitched of my cat, Sparky, posing for me in my yard.
I also have a pattern that I call, "Sleeping Beauty". Haven't stitched it yet,

Many of the ones that have already been listed are favorites of mine. I'd
also like to endorse two others:

1) From an old Leisure Arts collection, "Just Purrfect" by Mary Ellen,
"Aquarium" depicts a sealpoint Siamese standing on its hind legs to look into
an aquarium. I stitched this one about eight years ago over one on 22ct
Hardanger and it looks adorable.

2) A chart I just bought, "Cat Sampler" by Denise Harrington Pratt of
Amaryllis Artworks. It depicts a contended orange cat in the center of a band
sampler, bearing the legend, "By associating with the cat, one only risks
becoming richer."

I really like the "Cattitudes" books from Jeanette Crews Designs. They
are realistic cats in all sorts of poses and situations. I have all
eight of the books now.

I can't remember the name of it, but I did one about 10 years ago for my
sister that I bought (I think) from the Stitchery catalog. It is an
orange cat done on navy blue fabric so that it looks as if the cat is
sitting on the carpet in the shadow of the window panes. At the time,
my sister had an orange cat named Rowdy (Yates - after Clint Eastwood's
character). Rowdy died several years ago (natural causes) of "old age"
but the picture hung in her bathroom for years - including their homes
in Singapore & South Korea. Now that they're back in the Bay Area with
two new little orange cats, the picture is still hanging in a special
place. It's a very simple picture, but I've never seen one I liked
better.

These are rather old Leisure Arts publications, done in the 80s, but
I've seen them fairly recently at a Michael's in No. Carolina.

That would be "Shadows", from a Graphique Needle Arts leaflet called Nine
Lives. The designer is Judy Nason. It's been out of print for some time, but
you might try looking on eBay.

John Stubbs, who sadly died a few weeks ago, designed six beautiful cat
pictures. They are:
Tabby Kitten
Burmese cat
Siamese cat
Ginger Cat
Brown and White cat
Black and White cat

Do look at them on our web-site under 'John Stubbs Editions'.

John was a real cat fan, and so am I - I have three Persians, a blue
tabby and a black (brother and sister) and a rescue cat who is cream.
They take a lot of grooming, but are worth it.

Greetings -

One of my favorites is from a Dimensions kit I did in the mid-1980s
called *Persian in Roses*, from a watercolor painting done by Julie
Shearer. The roses are pink and yellow. I wish I could find other
charts done from her watercolors - I have a print of a black and
grey tabby in mixed flowers I'd love to have charted.

Also, *Furgason*, which shows a tabby w/his/her eyes closed,
paws folded in, just sitting contentedly.

My one and only np is of a Siamese w/mauve ribbon in a
wicher chair. I have other kits in np w/cats. My daughter
wants me to do a Cattitude of *Love one another*.

I have so many cat charts and books; I buy almost every one I see!
But I think my favorite is the very first chart I ever did, when I was
about 14. I don't know the name or designer; I've long since lost the
book. It's of a black cat peeking through some pansies. There were
several in the same leaflet, and my sister did one of the others, a
tabby looking at a flower. Both charts matched the first 2 cats I
ever had.

It's from the booklet "Nine Lives" by Judy Nason.
