I have been doing alot of cleaning out within the
last few days of my cross stitch supplies. Rather
than go thru the headache of taking them to a resale
shop or selling them on the internet, I would like to
donate them to a summer camp, after-school care
program, or other such program where I know that
they will be used by others who might not have an
opportunity to use them otherwise. My question
to you is this: Is there anyone who can put me into
contact with a person or persons who are in charge
of such a program? Your help would be most
appreciated!

When I had a lot of my mom's stuff to donate after she passed away, I called a
local school for retarded children. They were *so* grateful!!

Does your local United Way have a central location to call to volunteer or get
help? Perhaps one of those numbers could lead you in the right direction.

here's another idea....call up your local girl scout council.... some of the
troops are usually set up in poorer areas and can not afford to get supplies
for the crafting and other badges that there are....when I was a counselor it
was always sad to see the girls come in that didn't have any badges because
they couldn't afford the materials to get them. Just an idea.

hi,
Why don't you try a local senior citzens home, one of the ones that are
assisted care, not the nursinghomes...in the assisted care places the people
are quite ambulatory and carry on near to normal lives... they would probably
be most grateful for stitching supplies... just a suggestion... LL

If anyone has any needlework supplies they'd like to donate, the Light A
Star Network members would gladly receive them to use in the needlework
Christmas ornaments we stitch and sell with all proceeds to the American
Paralysis Association. You can contact the leader of the group, Linda
Lambert, at Arl...@aol.com. The website for the Light A Star Network is:

Thanks to all for your consideration.

I am a counselor who works with a high level of retarded adults. a lot of
ladies enjoy the most simple of designs---latch hook rugs, working with
canvas, the easier things.

My EGA chapter has been asked by a local crisis shelter to donate small
kits - gives the women something to do while they wait. Ronald McDonald
House is another possibility. Both of these places could use projects
for children also.

I teach needlework to 4th, 5th, 6th graders in the after school
Community Ed program in Minneapolis. The kids pay a $2 supply fee for a
9-week session and we usually teach four projects, so we depend heavily
on donations. Maybe your local EGA chapter does something like this
also and would welcome the donation.
