OK, i've been looking at his site and came across these two "new"
patterns. Is this a joke of his? Just wondering because I don't
see anything but a big black square and a big white square.

Katherine:

Not being overly familiar with his work, when I went to view these links I
laughed out loud. The black square is entitled "Trick or Treating in the
Dark" and the white square is entitled "Ghost". I would assume it's a joke
(and actually a pretty funny one at that since he's asking $5.50 for each
pattern...LOL). If it's not a joke, then it should be.

Always one to go to the obvious source, I've emailed Mr. Boehringer and asked
him about these two "designs." :-) Can hardly wait to see what he says, if he
replies, and I've asked his permission to post his reply to this group.

Do you suppose they are copyrighted, or could I just work out one on my own
for free??? What if I sold it? Or put it up on my website?

(Hey, folks, let's not start the copyright wars over this. We haven't really
finished the grammar wars, and I think they weren't due until next month.)

I have a friend who is still waiting for the center portion of Curtis'
Noah's Ark pattern and I don't think she would find it too funny or much
of a joke.

I'm betting "joke." They are on s separate page. The rest of his designs are
grouped together. Plus, all the others don't have the fabric listed as these
do.

And if it is not a joke, I don't want to know.

I just went to look at teh pages in question and get the "page not found"
response.

I am hoping this is a joke, too!

Hi, People !!
I am supposed to be ON here for just a moment today, I want to take myself
out to Lunch and promised myself yesterday that I would go for a nice long
walk( instead of the usual housework!) - but God, this is the funniest thing
I've heard of in a long time !!! I hope we are not going to humor this dear
fool and buy these - some humor is best left unacknowledged. I would beg you
all NOT to, we will never hear the end of it -- Does needlework really need
to get into the modern art crazies - three blue lines on a white canvas, a
pattern with no design but a red circle (it is supposed to make us think
??? ) <it makes me think the artist thinks I'm a fool>

I suspect what Mr. Curtis is saying is that HE is trick or treating --- US
(needleworkers.) As I say to my husband when he goes too far <<< Behave
yourself !>>>>
NOW this is just my opinion so do what you (all) feel is proper and right
and what you want to do, but remember, well, you bought it and there is
always a lot of strange art out there ... But as for me, I couldn't be
silent and let this one go by I can see this writing on the walls (of the
Guggenheim). Kathleen Mary

Actually, now that I think of it, I have already completed these designs!
When I first found them, I just couldn't believe what was going
on....wondering if maybe my server was hiccuping and just not getting the
pictures in. I looked more than once thinking somehting was strange here.
Anyway, glad I'm not going nuts!

this is definitely funnier than chapter 10 of the

I will have to agree with that - it is hillarious. Actually the guy is a

knew that someone who posts on RCTN would bring it to everyones
attention.LOL

Nan,
Best of luck to you in getting a response. I have e-mailed the man on over 20
different ocassions asking when the center of the Noah's Ark series will be
completed. (I'm one who can take a joke, but releasing a Noah's Ark series
that does NOT include an ARK in the end is not a joke. It's unprofessional.)
Please do post your response, should you receive one. I would be curious to
know if he responds to anyone's e-mail.

This better not be a joke. I ordered copies for all my friends. This is
the most amazing use of color I've ever seen! I'm thinking I could make
wallpaper in one of these patterns. Now I'm off to Magrethea to design
some lovely landscapes. ;-)

Disorganization is merely the sign of a very healthy

than those lazy, obsessively tidy types who can think of
nothing better to do than straighten objects in drawers

I haven't really been following all the posts about this but I did see
the "designs"... are you guys serious about ordering?
Amazing use of color? I'm sure confused because I saw a totally black
and totally white "design".
IMHO it would be a very boring project to cover a piece of fabric with
the same color floss as the fabric.

But just think of how *easy* it would be! No pattern to follow,
no chance of making an error (and frogging!), no blended threads,
metallics or blending filament, no fractional stitches.... You probably
wouldn't even have to *look* at it as you were doing it, especially if you
used aida--just let your needle find the holes! Therefore, just imagine
how fast you could fly through it! ;-)

<gasp> Come to think of it, I saw the white one on a jigsaw puzzle over 30 years
ago. It was round instead of rectangular and it was called "Snow White Without
