I recently located Gina Thompson's "Audubon Birds in Cross Stitch",
which calls for Ginnie Thompson Flower Thread or Danish Handcraft
Guild Flower Thread. None of the retail stores I frequent carry
either, so --- is there a convenient conversion chart to DMC and does
anyone have it? The charts are beautiful, watercolor-ey, yes, I know
the effect just wouldn't be the same. I spose I could use my
creative eye and choose comparable threads, but conversion would be
easier. Help?

You are right! The effect just wouldn't be the same! :-) Here is a
list of shops that carry the GTFT.
http://www.flowerthread.com/shoplist.html
Some of them do mail order. For sure Sue Lentz does. I hope I've
convinced you to use it! You will enjoy working with the Flower Thread.
It comes on it's own bobbin and doesn't tangle like DMC Flower Thread.
Another advantage that GTFT had over DMC floss is that you only have to
use one strand instead of two. You can find more information about GTFT
and get a free sample at their web site:

Convinced yet? :-))

Just keep in mind that they will stop making DMC flower thread at the end of
this year. So move fast and get a good supply.

Contact Sue Lentz at suelentz.com. She carries Danish Flower Thread at $.90
per skein. It is beautiful and really nice to work with. I started using it
back in 1980 and still enjoy stitching with it--lovely matt finish and you only
need 1 strand.

Got it in a sale at 12.5% off a couple of months ago, as in the full set
plus a few duplicates. Just finished winding all 180 skeins onto bobbins.
Now perhaps I can get to stitch with some of it!

You can order Ginnie Thompson Flower Thread from Ginnie's store, The
Counting House. Their web site is crossstitchsamplings.com.

This shop is in Pawleys Island, South Carolina. I vacationed there
last week and visited the shop; I'd highly recommend it to anyone who
finds themselves on the South Carolina coast. It's a really large
store with huge numbers of stitched models, and it's spacious and
sunny inside. I really enjoyed my visit.
