This is in no way a promotion for my site. I have become an enthusiastic
participant with the Angel Afghan Project started by James Farmer. It is a
really good and worthwhile charity and they need donations of any kind, but
most of all they need STITCHERS. The patterns you get are free and they range
from Precious Moments patterns to really detailed and complex pieces. They will
also take donations of angel patterns that have already been stitched. After
taking the time to read the details of this charity, if you decide to
participate I will give you your pattern for FREE, provided that you have
notified James Farmer with your intent to donate your time and energy. This
charity is near and dear to my heart, as I was born with difficulties and ended
up in a Pediatric ICU for a time. Without the hard work of these people, I
would not be here to share this with you.
Please go to the area on my website:
http://members.spree.com/shopping/jjmdesigns/pages01/Page001A.htm
This will give you background in the charity and if you so decide to volunteer
for them, there is a direct link to their website.
I appreciate your consideration of this very sweet project that has touched the
lives of so many families throughout the world.

I would be interested in getting information about this project and perhaps
getting involved. I found their web site and sent an e-mail which bounced back
to me. I then sent an e-mail to the address that is involved with the listing
of people, by state and country, who are participating in this and asked that
they forward my e-mail. In case they don't forward my e-mail, do you have an
e-mail address other than Epri...@aol.com which didn't work? thanks, Betty

I can forward this message to the AAP message board and get James to pick up
the message from there.

ROFLMAO------when I quickly read the subject title, I misread it as "Anal
Afghan Project" and wondered what kind of designs would make up the afghan????
Apologies to the original poster.

I think there are one or two others of us here, too. It's really
worthwhile if people have time and inclination.

Yes, try James Farmer on angelaf...@aol.com

Also, it's Epri...@aol.com - in other words, it's a lower-case 'e'.

You just gave me a very good laugh! I make the same mistake sometimes, too. I
think it makes life more lively to misread and mishear things this way..

This project is truly a wonderful cause. Last year I did the larger
angel for them to stitch on the little blankets. These are sometimes the
only memorial that some parents have to carry home form the hospital.

The precious little blankets should be done with different skin colors
too. You can use all of your scrap pieces on them.....I think the beads
and the "wisper" are a nono because they cause too much fuzz or can
become loose. Just stitch them beads on so tight no one can pull them
off!

This organization is doing a fantastic job and is organised so that
everything is donated. I can vouch for thier integrity!

Marilyn Leavitt-Imblum:

Thank you so much for the endorsement, it's very much appreciated. When I
originally started the Angel Afghan Project (AAP) I had no idea what I was
getting into. I'd never done anything like this.
The AAP was started on 23 Januayr 2000, with only 6 members. Since then the
membership has grown to over 600!!!!!!! Recently an article appeared in the
British magazine Cross Stitcher. That was about 5 weeks ago. Since then the
British membership has grown from 24 members to well over 300, and is still
growing!!!!!
My original hospital list of only 10 has now grown to include over 60 hospitals
here in the USA and is over 20 in the UK. I've recently gotten a finisher in
Australia and she will be actively looking for hospitals in Australia,
Singapore and New Zealand.
When the AAP got started I only had members here in the US and England. Now
that list of countries includes:
USA
England
Scotland
Wales
Northern Ireland
Republic of Ireland
Germany
The Netherlands
Denmark
Gibraltar
Spain
South Africa
Mauritius
Singapore
Australia
The Philippines
New Zealand
Canada
Mexico
Cyprus

As you can see, we are definately getting bigger and better.
Many thanks are owed to people, such as Marilyn, Jeanne Meiers of JJM Designs,
Pat Carson of Designs by Gloria and Pat, Cheryl Urean of Stoney Creek
Collections, Zweigart Fabrics, Charles Craft, Gay Bowles Sales, Krienik, and
many, many, many more for helping to make the AAP what it's become today.
I've also gotten committments from Teresa Wentzler, Nora Corbett and other
designers to design angel charts for the AAP, and for those considerations, I
also express my deepest thanks.

If anyone out there, reading this, knows of a hospital with an NICU, please
send me information, such as the name of the hospital, their mailing address,
phone number and the name of a contact person (preferably the person in charge
of the NICU) and I will get in touch with them and see about getting them on my
mailing list. The AAP also sends to Children's Cancer Clinics for children
under the ageof 10 and I've personally taken 10 completed pieces to the
Children's Cancer Clinic at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in
Jackson, Mississippi.

If you know of stitchers who may be interested in helping with this cause,
please have them get in touch with me, either by phone (662-332-49370, fax
(662-332-9906), e-mail (angelaf...@aol.com) or even by snail mail:
The Angel Afghan Project
Attn: James Farmer
PO Box 5421

They do not have to be on the Internet to participate. There are NO DEADLINES
and you are able to work at your own pace.

Please, visit our web-site at www.angelafghanproject.com or, for the UK
readers, www.angelafghan.freeservers.com. You'll find more information at
either site, but the best would probably be the first one, as the UK site is
just getting started and is still being built as I write these works. It can
be accessed, but the information there is not as great as the first site.

Again, thank you Marilyn, as well as those who have made the AAP the great
success it's become, in less the 2 years.

May God bless you all and thank you for your support and donations.

Sincerely yours,

James Farmer, Founder

I agree that this is a wonderful project. My granddaughter was a
recipient of one of these afghans last year. She was born very prematurely
last October and received her afghan in January I believe. She was not
due until early February and weighed just a little over 1 lb at birth.
Now she is nearly 9 lbs and is at home in Kitchener, Ontario with mommy and
daddy. From the description my DS gave me over the phone I believe
Kiara's afghan is the Precious Moments one designed by Pat. I want to
express my sincere thanks to all the stitchers who are doing these afghans -
perhaps yours is the one that my Kiara has.

Hi James
You are doing a wonderful thing!!
There is a wonderful Childrens Hospital in Vancouver BC Canada that
has a very very good NNICU. My granddaughter was born at 25 weeks and
weighed in at 504 grams! That was almost 19 years ago!! She is the
longest surviving smallest baby!! I guess she always will be as the
rest are younger than she is! They had no angel quilts or afghans
then. I would be happy to stitch one for your group!

Although Jim forgot to mention me as a designer who donated a pattern, I did
donate my "The Light of God" angel pattern for the Angel Afghan Project.
