Am I the only one who has a problem with Michaels magazine selection ? The
Michaels in Markham, Ontario is typically the one I visit, and it has only
just recently started a "book and magazine" section. Not one single
cross-stitch magazine and I think perhaps 1 single copy of a needlework
book. How is this possible ? I was thrilled with the possibility of
finally being able to find such unheard ofs (around here ) as the S&ANQ
magazine and Australian/British magazines. The A/B magazines I can find at
Indigo/Chapters, sometimes - but locating a copy of the S&ANQ magazine is
like finding a needle in a haystack.

But none ? Not even a BH&G magazine ?

Just wondering if they're all the same, or if this particular manager is
missing the ball on this one...

I've been Michaels in DFW area, Indianapolis, Fort Wayne and Lafayette
(IN)
and *none* of them have had needlework magazines <sigh>. So it's not
just your manager - maybe they get a few and sell out fast??? I don't
haunt any Michaels so maybe that's the problem :) (but I doubt it)

Nope, here in CO, I NEVER find magazines at Michaels.....they are horrible.
Luckily I have a very well stocked Barnes and Noble nearby, and a King
Soopers....odd but the King Soopers (grocery store) carries all three
plastic canvas magazines and a couple of cross stitch and needlework
selections as well.....

Shannon, I live only a few hours from you but my city doesn't even have an
lns or a Michaels all we have is a Walmart and a White Rose, but the
magazine shops carry a large assortment of cross stitch magazines. I'm
always amazed that I have such a selection...

Ours used to carry several, but now carries none. Lots of other crafts,
but no needlework, of any persuasion :-(.

Elizabeth (Honestly, I only go there when I have a 50% off coupon.)

Cross Stitch is no longer the "hot" craft and it shows in the lack of
magazines!

I don't even have a Michaels - I have a Rag Shop (local chain) that
just barely has FLOSS. They have a magazine rack at the entrance and
although I would expect them to carry craft magazines (to tempt you to
buy the wood, silk flowers, yarn, etc. that they have) they have a
cooking magazine - In Style magazine??? Very strange.

Shannon:

Your expereince mirrors mine. We had a good large Lewiscraft which had a good
magazine section (most Lewiscrafts do not). Then Michael's moved in - one in
Pickering and one in Whitby. The LC superstore closed. And, of course, one of
the Michael's has now closed.

I find Chapters my best source for magazines - although I haven't checked lately
to see if it has deteriorate now that Indigo owns it.

Around here, Denver, Co, The biggest selection of mags. is Newsland
(with 3 locations). They have Brithish imports.
As for Miclhaels, they use to but discounted xs mags, same with B&N.
Thus is life - always losing things that were part of what we enjoy.
