I have been lurking for a couple of months and decided to finally
get my feet wet.

I am looking for a cross stitch pattern that has the Spirit of
St. Louis (or similar) plane. I have done some pretty extensive
searching, but haven't seen anything.

Any help would be appreciated.

About me: I live in Hayward, California, with DH. DD is 26 and
married last year; DS will be 22 next week. I am an Admin Assistant
to a VP at a biotech company (fancy name for daycare for tall
children) and I have been cross stitching for about 11 years.

My favorite LNS is Needle in a Haystack in Alameda, with Fuzzy
Penguin in Sacramento a close second and Kelsey's Needle in
Placerville, which I just found last week, as third.

Finished: Eastern Sky Bargello, Afghan of Amish Quilt Squares
(finally), Lighthouse Sampler, Blackwork Sampler from Nost. Needle

WIP: Christmas Elegance, PV Teddy Bear in China Cabinet, flag square
for WTC, Stoney Creek Bunnies w/Balloons, Blackwork Challenge Sampler
from Skinner Sisters

Welcome, Carla! I just did a search at Hoffmann and only found three
airplane-related charts, and two of them were baby-ish looking things!
I am really surprised! And a little put out - I have a son in flight
school and what on earth am I gonna stitch for him?! I know the plane
(Spirit) is in the Smithsonian, right? I wonder if they have
anything? We live near St. Louis and I go to shops there, and I have
never seen anything at all. :-P Good luck on your search! If there
is one out there, someone here knows about it so you did good by
asking. :-))) Paula B.

Depending on what branch of service he is, there's an OK one of the Air
Force Thunderbirds---their elite flying group---I found under military
stuff at Hoffman's. That might do.

And, actually, there are lots under both military and transportation
categories
at Hoffman's of military aircraft in particular. You may want to try the
category crawl in there.

Sorry to reply to my own post, but you got me curious!

Hi Carla,

I'm Lorraine and I live in Walnut Creek, CA. My son commutes every day to
work in San Mateo so I feel like we are neighbors. Welcome to the group.
Unfortunately, I can't help with your query, but the mention of Hayward got
my attention.

Hi Carla,

I can't help you either, but I also wanted to say hi since I live in
Fremont and I go to Hayward Mon-Thurs to attend classes.

Welcome to the group!

Carla:
You might try the AF Museum in Dayton (Fairborn), OH or the Smithsonian. I
know I've seen that pattern somewhere and would bet on the AF Museum. Other
than that try The Daisy Barrel in Fairborn. They have a lot of patterns like
that. It's 937-879-0111
