Can blending pens be used with non-watercolor pencils? I just bought a
set of Prismacolor Scholar pencils, but don't know if I should return
them if I can't do any blending.
Thanks!

I didn't have any luck using a blending pen with regular colored pencils. I
LOVE them with watercolor pencils!!!

: Hi,
*****May blessings follow you each day*****
also, there are blending pencils to be used with colored pencils, look for
those, also burnishing colors with a white or a soft gray makes for interesting
changes.

I guess the next thing then is for me to maybe try both the watercolor
and non-watercolor pencils in the store and see which one I like the
feel of better. Then I can get the appropriate blending tools as
you've all pointed out for me.
Thanks again for your help,
nina
What is a blending pen / pencil?
I am about to start using waterclolour pencils. Is this something that
I need to concern myself with?
Thank you,
Michael
When I do use a blender, I use one of 2 things. The first I started to use
(and I recommend for beginners) is a Tombow blender (there is also a Dove
blender), which have a glycerin type liquid in them that allows you to blend
the colors. You can also use the Dove/Tombox blenders for applying Pearl
Ex, color directly from watercolor crayons (my new fave thing to color
with), blend markers, and probably more!
I have also started using the Judikins Water Brush. It is a BRUSH, that
instead of "wood" as the base for it, it has a container for water. Make
sense? My set of 2 cost about $20 American, but it was worth it!! You
can also put something else in it instead of water (it's semi-clear, you can
see how much you have left), such as a glycerin mix.
There is also something called a blending stump, that I bought today to try
with my NON-watercolor pencils.
