Being a participant in an ongoing fabric exchange, I've discovered
that I have a lot of really wonderful scraps that are just large
enough to cut watercolor quilt squares out of. These scraps are
prewashed, pressed, 100% cotton fabric.

Do you have some of the same? Would you be interested in trading
fabric with others?

What I would like to do is a very simple exchange in which you send
me however many packets you would like to exchange. I will shuffle
them all up, and send them back out. However many you send in is
how many you will get back. I will not send you your own packet back.

I thought about having lists of people, and having them send to one
another, but the logistics (if this gets very large at all) would be
formidable. Centralized exchanges like this mean that you have to
trust the organizer to fulfill her promise to actually remail out
the packets. I think many of you can vouch for my honesty and
reliability. 8-)

So, if you would like to participate, you need to send me email by
September 5th. Your packets would be due to me by September 30th,
and I will remail them by October 15th. The advance registration by
email is necessary so that I can cut enough extra squares to balance
the exchange out.

In your email, please tell me:

1) How many packets you want to exchange.
2) Your name and mailing address
3) If you have any special requests (no promises, but I'll do my best)
4) If you like, please feel free to include information about your
project: I enjoy hearing what others are working on, and it may
help me decide which packets to send to whom.

I'm asking that people not put duplicate squares into any one packet.
Each packet should have 12 different fabrics in it. However, if you
send me multiple packets, it's okay to have the same 12 fabrics in
packet a as in packet b - I'll just arrange it so that they go to
different people.

There is no restriction on color.

If you don't know what a Watercolor Quilt is, I recommend getting the
book Watercolor Quilts from your local quilting shop. I can't adequately
describe them in words, but the pictures in the book are not only
beautiful, but illustrate the idea wonderfully! 8-)

Hope you can join us,

Teri

I want to thank everyone who sent me questions. I left out some very
important information, and am glad to have the chance to clarify.

I'm asking that people exchange 2 inch squares. I believe this is
the size recommended in the Watercolor Quilts book. This means that
the finished square size will be 1 1/2 inches, because of the 1/4 inch
seam allowances.

I've been asked about sending solid-colored squares. It's my
understanding that the Watercolor Quilts book recommends using prints
only, especially large prints, so I'd prefer people send those. If
you have any questions about just what kind of prints are best, my
suggestion is to check the book, as they describe it so well there,
and my paraphrasing is likely to be poor, at best. (They can use
pictures!)

I will do my best to respond to everyone in email. If you have sent
me email and don't get a response by Wednesday, please email me again.

Thanks!

Teri
