I once bought pots from another potter who told me she would take
glazed tiles and paint on them with low fire glazes and then fire in a
kiln. I assume the original tile glaze temp would have to have been
cone 5 or something...or that glaze would be affected. I have meant to
try it but haven't gotten around to it. I would suggest trying a
different firing temp, such as a cone or 2 higher, depending on what
exactly your disappointing results were like.
