I want to have a go at painting flowerpots and wondered if anyone had
any hints or tips to pass on, such as what sort of paint to use. I've
also heard that if soil is put directly into painted pots, the paint
will come off. Is there any way round this?

Thanks in advance.

There was an article in the jan 1998 crafts beautiful ... go potty with
terracota ideas. Not tried it yet mmyself but stamping onto a pot is
starting to feel attractive!

One big tip - seal either the inside or the outside of the pot with
something waterproof (such as a varnish - matt if it's on the outside)
BEFORE you start to paint. If you don't, the paint will start to bubble
and peel off when any moisture gets to the pot - for example, when you
water the plant. I suppose you could use a plastic liner instead.

I used a couple of matchpots of bog-standard emulsion to quite
acceptable effect (unless you count the standard of artwork <gg>). No
problem with paint peeling etc.
