Step 1- make sure the glass is clean.
Step 2- Use one of the many products out there that is meant to be
painted on glass-- Liquitex Glossies, Pebeo Porcelaine 150, Deka makes
one too... most of these are put into the oven when they are dry. It
makes a world of difference. (just make sure that you buy a paint that
is made for this process-- do not just put acrylics in the oven)

You should have more success then.

I've also heard about a conditioner you put on the glass, after cleaning
and before painting. Ask at the craft stores ......I think I saw this
in connection with Porceline paints.

I was very happy with the PermEnamel paints. I wasn't painting
anything that would be eaten off of, or needed to be put into the
dishwasher, but the PermEnamels are good for say, the outside of a
teapot, or the bottom of a glass serving plate. I can wash the items
by hand and the paint doesn't come off. No baking involved, but I did
have to prep before painting and apply a clear coat of finish. They
have special stuff for the prep coat, and the finish stuff comes in
both matte and glossy.

You can try using Perm-Enamel. This is for glass and does not require baking.

Sonja what kind of paint did you use? There is special paint for glass, find
any gallery glass products in your craft store and start there. Or if you
have a craft store like Ben Franklin, Hobby Lobby and so forth go and ask a
clerk and they should point you in the right direction.

Try Porcelaine 150, I got mine a Michael's Crafts. I have used this
product and really like it. You bake it for about 30 minutes at 150*
,after letting it dry for a day. It is permanent and food safe. I
painted several plates and a glass, they have gone through the
dishwasher once a week for a year and still look great. These colors are
more transparent. I also painted some tile with this product. Can't get
a large area to be smooth looking so its best to use for flowers or
checks, stripes, dots. The store should have a book by the company you
could check out before you buy. They also have a web site that shows
some things. www.pebeo.com Pebeo is the name of the co. I tried the
Perm Enamel and did not like it. It has to dry for at least a week and
is not food safe. I have all the colors but just don't like it. Well
hope I didn't make it more difficult for you.
