and finally gets something right!

Perhaps Obama will be known for something else other than "The
President Of Hittin That Ass":

http://www.wired.com/autopia/2009/02/what-the-stimul/

It's about fucking time this country did something about this long
standing problem! 8 Billion ain't shit but it's a start. No matter how
corrupt, no matter how over budget, no matter what...

It's about time, motherfuckers.

A truly Banquerific idea. It's not fiscally viable in the private
sector, so let's throw imaginary funny money at it! What's another 8
billion when the budget is already upside down by 1.75 trillion? YAY!

Fuck, Florida. Florida should get nothing. Lets give the entire state
back to the Indians we forced into that fucking swamp.

It's far better that absolutely nothing done by Carter, Regan, Bush

It was better than doing nothing.

What Arnold had to say back in 08:

"We have to move forward with this project."

"Our rail system in America is so old we are driving the same speed as
we did a hundred years ago".

"We should do what other countries do. All over the world we see high
speed rails that go 200 to 300 mph. We should do the same thing in
this country."

So throwing good money in an ever expanding black hole is better than
spending money wisely?

Not surprising coming from an employee of a not for profit in-house
machine shop.

http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Politics/2010/0128/Obama-s-high-speed-rail-plan-Which-states-get-the-money

"California the biggest winner

California will get $2.34 billion, the largest award, to help set up a
high-speed line between San Diego and Sacramento by 2026. Top speeds
on the line, which would go through Los Angeles and the San Francisco
Bay Area, would hit 220 miles per hour. State officials say they need
high-speed rail to lessen the load on the state's roads and airports

California expects its population to grow by 13.5 million during the
next 20 years. That would mean an added 90 million to 115 million
interregional or intercity trips. Without high-speed trains, those
travelers would require 2,970 more miles of freeway lanes, five new
runways, and 90 new airport gates for a cost of $82 billion, some
estimates suggest.

“It’s the boldest move I’ve seen since Eisenhower proposed the
interstate highway system,” Mehdi Morshed, executive director of the
California High Speed Rail Authority told the Monitor in a recent
interview."

That was back in 08, times have changed.

Take a look at the map you linked to, how much money do you think it
will take to build all of those high speed routes?

The federal funds are but a in the bucket for these projects.

For California's proposed high speed rail system alone they are
estimating it will cost $42.6 BILLION to build. If history repeats,
cost overruns will make it 2 to 10 times higher

States are already bleeding red ink. Who's going to pick up the bill
when history repeats itself and these projects bleed red ink each year
as well?

The US isn't crammed into tiny spaces like those european countries
where rail makes more sense.

Think of just how many cars a high speed train can use.
Not all that many. Maybe 2x from the train daily run max.
Half extra at each end. So how many ? 40 or 60 total ?

Oh what about the East coast ones - about the same for each.
Just a blip in the road to zero.
And they (train operator) wants them at onset!

Plus they said it was shovel ready. Was stupid when the voters passed the
proposition and there is not even an semi coherent idea on where to run the
rails today.

Banquer doesn't accept your reality. so he'll just copy/paste the same
spam over and over, and then log in with his other alias so he can
rate his posts with the prestigious "5 stars." Those "5 stars" mean
people agree with him.....don't they??

To the Original Joe788...I sincerely apologize for being such an
asshole and allowing my adoration and admiration for you drive me to
make outrageous lies and accusations. Dude, you are the bomb! You are
seriously Joe Cool. I can't promise that my behavior will ever
improve. I'm have a moment of clarity and wanted to publicly apologize
for even thinking I could ever come close to be as cool as you are. I
just hope you get to read this before I come back to my stark raving
madness and rip my post down!

The economy is showing signs of recovering due to his actions.
Remember what the rethugs left him with. Takes time to fix ...
huge damages.
Though Faux was whining yesterday that not enough people have
been tossed out of their homes by the banks (or fast enough) or enough
credit cut off.
