Why not use the NX you claimed the place has where you work?
Everywhere mastercam is there you are crying about it. Switch over to NX?
Supposedly it's at your disposal?

So looks like your stuck with crappy mastercam x. And I feel for ya, I went
back to 9 over x because I hate the interface. But damn man, if its all I
had I would of tried to solve my problems, not fighting and getting banned
all over the internet over it.

After reading some of your so called rants, your biggest problem is you
can't see the little arrows showing contour direction.
That's an issue on NX also. Solidworks is real crisp easy to see...so why
not try to solve it? Why do you always have to rely on the software getting
rewritten?

First of all get a graphics card designed for cad and not games. If you buy
an nvidia card, you can get two series, gamers cards or cadcam cards. The
gaming cards seem faster, but you can't quite see the fine detail like the
cad cards.
I have a 6200 gforce at home and an nvidia quatro at work. The 6200 is way
faster, but I can't see those arrows for shit. So maybe your using a gaming
card?
Then there's things you can do to help, like turn on or off anti-aliasing
on the card, not in the software.
Change the system colors. Solidworks has done an awesome job of picking
default colors, just copy it in your mastercam.

Some cards have things like edge emphasis settings, go look, maybe you can
tweak it. I did in nx? Now I can see those arrows more than I want to
actually.

Youve been kicked off forums, not for disagreeing, but for being a dick.
Stop and try to make things work? Havn't you ever ran an old beat down
bridgeport? The rules change a little, but the output should be the same.

You remind me of a guy once who got hired where I worked. He had to cut a
pocket in a moldbase.
The place only had digitals on one mill, and that one was taken.
So he said "I can't cut this pocket, there's no digitals?".
Now, here I was a few bucks less saying"sure you can, quit belly aching".
The dood wigged out, started yelling how stupid I was because I never heard
of backlash". Of course I was young and someone had to get between us before
I killed him.
Finally I milled the damn pocket and he got fired for being a dumbass.

Backlash is a problem, but if you know the trick, it doesn't exist. For me
it didnt exist, I drove around that pocket with no problem.

That's you, without digitals your dead in the water, or whatever mastercam
doesnt do.
If you cant work around it, your are not a toolmaker, you are a production
worker, a button pusher.

Backlash is just a condition to be overcome, but for people like you it's
an excuse to stop.

Stop being a critic and post some kickass workarounds?
Or be owned like backlash has owned half the trade.

Mastercam is yet another software Vinny couldn't figure out the basics
to. After many years of using Mastercam, Vinny never knew you could
ramp using Mastercam's Lead In / Lead Out. Vinny also never learned
how to properly use Mastercam's WCS. The reason for this are simple:

Vinny is both cheap and stupid and refuses to purchase Mastercam
training from someone like Mike Mattera at Tips For Manufacturing. A
fool like Vinny uses Mastercam cracked software but he's so stupid and
so cheap that he won't lay out a few hundred dollars for decent
education. Talk about a total fucking moron.

When it comes to producing, Vinny is always capable of showing how
little he gets out of any software package he uses. Take SolidWorks,
where I had to sent Vinny an example of what a master model was in
SolidWorks as he had no clue.

It isn't very hard to figure out why Vinny really got fired from his
last job.

I knew I could use ramp? The button is called "ramp", and its right in the
middle of the contour dialog page?
Everyone knows it's ramp?

What I didn't know is it would cause the cut to reciprocate.
But instead of crying like you jb, I simply took the curve'(s) I was using
for the cut and copied them down the depth of cut. And created a ruled surf
from that, all in about 3-4 seconds.
At that point I had full control.
Actually, using "cut depths" I had more control because I could vary the
depth of cut as needed.

? It didn't slow me down, and it's all about time? What's your point?

Vinny also never learned
> how to properly use Mastercam's WCS. The reason for this are simple:

I never needed it. How many times do I have to tell you I was a moldmaker,
not a programmer. Mastercam was no different than any other machine.
If it did something I didn't do...I didn't care.

THE DAY I BUY MASTERCAM TRAINING OUT OF MY OWN POCKET IS THE DAY I WANT
EVERYONE IN THIS NEWSGROUP TO KILL ME!
Why? Because I will deserve it!

I downloaded mastercam x when I was using it at work? What's your point? I
always do that so I can learn at home.
I now have NX6, who cares. I don't make money with it, I learn with it.
I would spend thousands on training, except, it obviously didn't work for
you?

How would you know, your a damn purchasing agent?

Difference between me and you is I ask questions to learn if there's stuff I
don't know. I'll ask anyone anything if it will make me better.
You have chosen to go down a different road, your plan is try to bullshit
everyone you come in contact with. Soon all you seem to be doing is changing
the subject, being extremely general, finally quoting sales pitches and
trolling.

Damn man, your having trouble drilling holes in mastercam, do I need to say
more?

Vinny,
How about just ignoring the lying bastard? You wouldn't have

Win-win!!!!!

Jon, you still can't use "mask on arc", or figure out how to machine
an open pocket. Just because you post beginner questions under false
names, doesn't mean people can't see that you're a total fraud.

"Is there a way to completely machine the open sides of a pocket
without off-setting wire geometery? Our other cam lets us change the
wire geometry to tell the system that this is where the pocket is
open. How does Mastercam handle this condition using the standard tool
path? " - Jon Banquer, Aug 6th, 2009

Tell us Jon, what exactly is your "other cam" that you claim to have?
Or is this just another outright Jon Banquer lie?

My vote is "Vinny for President" <g>
His post from Sept. 09 says it all. Toolmakers vs Button pusher so
called "machinists"
Whats really bad is when the Boss says "we can't do that here, has to
be send out"
oh man, kids now days.
Toolmakers can make ANYTHING with minimal equipment. It may not be
pretty or fast or they may fuckitup first, but in the end, THE JOB
GETS DONE.
So what if the boss is on your ass for the die welding bill. Thats why
the good lord created welders. They are the greatest arc makers since
Noah! <g>

Speaking of ass, Cliff was able to machine a near perfect dildo for shoving
up his own ass. The beauty of it was it's length. It had to be quite long,
in order to push his pea brain WAY UP his asshole. Unfortunately it wasn't
perfect, only near-perfect. The rust from his pea brain spread to his dildo
and broke off. Now he is constipated and all of the shit comes out of his
mouth instead. Found your WMD yet Cliff? Try looking behind your pea brain!

I'll make a note of that, just in case in the future someone needs

now, back to Masterscam bashing!

news:n9d1b61q91h283eb3...@4ax.com...

The problem a lot of shops have is they concentrate on the details and
forget the big picture.
How many shops out there are stretching endmills out, or dressing grinding
wheels till they are 1/2 their diameter, or stressing about welding bills.
Average mold shops in America charge 50-80$ hr shop labor.

So a mold takes 500hrs to build, at 60$hr, and the boss is sweating a 200$
welding bill, or sweating an extra 200$ in cutters, or using brass wire on
the wire edm as opposed to coated because it costs twice the price.

What needs to be done is a cost analysis on these things.

Lets use coated wire vs cheap brass as an example, you can surely see the
same thing in welding, cutters, etc...

A roll of brass wire is 80$. A roll of coated is 200$.
WOW....big savings going to the brass right..pffft.
Every damn shop in town is using brass now, it's like mass stupididty.
A roll of wire burns 20 hrs.
So you divide 20 by the cost. That's 4$ an hr for brass.
And 10$ an hr for coated. WOW...AGAIN, what a savings going to the
brass....NOT!

When we look at it as part of the BIG picture you will find the coated is
the only way to go.

Now lets say the coated cuts 10% faster. It doesn't, it cuts from 30-70%
faster plus, but lets just say you only get 10% faster. 10% of 60$ is 6$. So
you save 6$ an hr in shop labor using the coated.
So at just a 10% increase you end up spending the exact same dollars per
hour. Any increase from using the coated over 10% is pure profit.

Now add to that you can easily get 30% increase, and most shops charge more
for wire edm than milling, you are talking BIG savings going to coated. Yet
most shops in my area have gone to brass to save money.

******
endmills.
This one kills me.
Ok, back to 60$ an hr shop labor.
Lets say an endmill is 20$.
So by stretching an endmill out 200% of its life thats a direct savings of
20$.
All that endmill has to do is save 20 minutes to pay for itself. The life
of the endmill might be 24hrs. That's 480 minutes.
20 minutes is 4% of that cutters life.
So....if using a new cutter can cut 4% more efficient, it pays for itself.
So the next time you turn your feedrate down 5% because your endmill is
getting tired you are losing money.

********
my math is not accurate, but my point is, and not the one on my head.
We need to waste money to make money.
That silly welding bill is such a small part relative to shop labor, I say
weld weld weld. If todays welding is as good as virgin steel, and the welder
doesnt cause a delivery date issue, weld weld weld.
Eat thru endmills, grinding wheels etc...
A new grinding wheel is 15 bux. A worn wheel requires a lot more dresses,
and at the end of 100hrs of grinding it adds up to a lot more than 15 bux of
shop labor. Dress off an inch and throw it in the trash. Don't sweat the 15
bux the wheel costs, sweat the 60$hr shop labor at 50hrs a week/guy.
