The spat between the White House and House Speaker John Boehner
is now settled: the President will address a joint session of
Congress on Sept. 8, jousting with opening night of the NFL
season instead of the previously-scheduled Republican
presidential debate the night prior.
On one level, the tiff is just another example of the kind of
Washington bickering that has become standard fare of late. But
there’s one aspect of this story that may have legs — if it
provides the president’s supporters with yet another piece of
evidence that he is not being treated with the deference due
(and typically given) the President of the United States. (The
president’s request to appear before a joint session of Congress
on Sept. 7 was turned down for what may have been the first time
in history.)
Last month, the Progressive National Baptist Convention - a
religious denomination that began in support of Martin Luther
King Jr’s civil rights agenda - issued a resolution decrying the
“disrespect” President Obama has encountered since taking office.
The resolution cited South Carolina Rep. Joe Wilson shouting
“you lie” during the president’s healthcare speech before
Congress (in reaction to Obama saying that illegal immigrants
wouldn’t be covered under his plan) and Colorado Rep. Doug
Lamborn saying in an interview that he didn’t want to “be
associated” with Obama because it was “like touching a tar baby
… you know, you are stuck, and you are part of the problem.”
“Conventional wisdom suggests if comments like these were
targeted to past holders of this nation’s highest office of
another/preferred hue,” the resolution reads, “serious
repercussive actions would have immediately followed those
making said comments.”
In addition, progressive firebrand Al Sharpton called the
Speaker’s refusal part of a “game of disrespect” on his show on
MSNBC.
Will Speaker Boehner’s pushback — answering the president’s
request to address Congress on Sept 7 by instead insisting he
appear on Sept. 8 — be seen as yet another example?
Obama deserves no respect.
He uses the Social Security Number of a dead guy.
He doesn't own his own home and apparently it's involved in tax
fraud.
He faked his Selective Service Registration.
He lied about Obama Care funding Illegals.
He supports amnesty for violators of Federal Laws.
He attempted to undermine the 2nd amendment by entering into a
treaty restricting firearms.
He and his crook buddy Holder had full knowledge of BATF gun
running programs to drug dealers.
He's dumber than a rock and has to be told everything to say
using a telepromter fed by a white liberal college boy.
He handed George Soros $2 Billion to go drill in South America.
He has refused to open up drilling for oil in the U.S.A.
He lied about closing GITMO.
He is way too sympathetic to Muslim assholes.
He refuses to show respect for the American flag.
He refuses to say God in public.
His policies reek of socialism.
He is certainly not an American citizen. He should be impeached
and tried for treason.

What they are for is whatever their right wing leaders tell them they
are for. Since we never ever hear anything new from conservatives, we
know what the republicans want to do and what their plans are if they
get the White House. We've seen it before, what was it, 30 months ago?
The next republican who gets nominated will have the identical plan for
the country that Bush put in place in 2001. It will be lower taxes on
the rich and corporations, deregulation of business, free trade
policies, and privatization of as many government functions as possible.
The common terms for it are supply-side, or trickle down economics.
That's what we will get if a republican is elected. We saw how that
worked under Bush and it will be the same if it's tried again.
The sane are totally against this happening again. The insane can't wait
to do it all over again. By the insane I mean republicans and right wingers.

That's right. The fact is the republicans were totally repudiated in
those elections. It's normal for first year incumbent presidents to lose
house seats. In this case the right wing was very fired up after two ass
kickings in a row and the Democrats reverted to their lazy selves and
didn't bother to show up to vote in an off year election. So the right
wing got a big win with a small number of people voting for them.
Things have changed again since 2010. Congress has a horrible reputation
these days and there are lots of republicans in congress. The public has
been in a throw the bums out mood for the last three elections, and they
are still pissed off, which doesn't bode well for incumbents. That means
you, republicans. There is a very good chance a lot of republican
congressmen will be losing their seats in the next election. If they
think they will have a cake walk into majorities in congress they're fools.

would happen in a couple of years. That was about two years ago. So if
it doesn't happen by the end of the year we have to say the same thing
