> Mastercam grew up. Sure wish I had x4. :(
What Mastercam grew into is a fucking mess with cobbled together
ideas. Many shops have had enough and are changing because Mastercam
is such a cobbled together inefficient mess.
It looks pretty clear that SolidWorks has won the market and that a
major shift has just started to occur in places like California where
a major machining job shop in San Diego dumped 5 seats of Mastercam
and went with the integrated solution of SolidWorks and OpenMind
Hypermill.
That shop would be San Diego's 5th Axis CNC. When I say dumped I mean
dumped. The don't use Mastercam any longer for anything period.
This is the start of a major trend of machining job shops unloading
CADCAM that can't get the job done in an elegant and efficient manner.
Either CNC Software cleans up the fucking mess in Mastercam
*yesterday* and gives users powerful solids, chaining, graphics, etc.
or you're going to see many more seats of Mastercam get yanked out and
replaced.
Open Mind is desperately looking to ad HyperMill sales people in
California because they feel the California market is ripe for the
taking. I think they're right.
Haha! Back to the "dumped" thing again, huh Jon? Since you clearly
have your finger on the pulse of the San Diego job shop market, why
don't you name 5 shops that have "dumped" Mastercam?

During the term of the Agreement, 5th Axis switched from using
Master Cam software to Open Mind Hyper-Mill software. The switch in software had
a huge
learning curve and the ETP funding allowed you to provide the critically needed
training hours
for the new system (off production).
]
They got $20,280 from the State of California for "training"
and it looks like they had been using a rather old version of MasterCAM
anyway.
Manage to drill any holes yet??
BTW, News was well over a year old. Stale, in fact.
"Training began on 6/01/07."

Very interesting. Nice find Cliff!
Has poor idiot clueless ever been right?
He still cannot even drill simple holes properly with MasterCAM !!
No clues does he have.
*I* spotted his blunders right away !!!
And I don't even use MC & never have. Not even a free 1 minute demo
(though we had some seats at AO Smith for some shop-floor programming stuff
as the employees, when hired, had been trained in MC to begin with IIRC).
