Disorder.

* Has a grandiose sense of self-importance (e.g., exaggerates

brilliance, beauty, or ideal love
* Believes that he or she is "special" and unique and can only be

especially favorable treatment or automatic compliance with his or her
expectations

My wife teaches autistic kids and my writing/editing partner in medical work
was well up on the Asperger's scale. It's a challenge dealing with them
every day but many of them, notably my work partner, have extraordinary
abilities and focus. It looks a lot like extremely high IQ, which in some
cases it can be.
FWIW, and this is strictly an amateur's point of view, the kinds of people
who derive satisfaction from solitary work or hobbies, such as metalworking,
could score very high on that test while having no signs of autism. They
just prefer their own company. d8-)
Analyzing autism is not a trivial thing. I doubt the ability of a simple
test like that to tell much about it.

I was a bit disappointed by my self sufficiency score.
If I had taken this test back when I was younger before reality rubbed my nose in how
things really are, I'm sure I would have scored higher overall.

Nope. It's a neurological condition that can lead to a lot of strange
behaviors. If you want to know more, maybe I can arrange a day for you in
one of my wife's handicap classes. That will really open your eyes. <g>
I can't see how the test even begins to measure it. In fact, anyone above
the lowest range on the autism spectrum couldn't answer the test at all.
Asperger's is quite a different thing from the mainstream of autism,
although it is considered to be a branch of the autism spectrum. Trying to
combine the two looks bizarre to me, but I'm not an expert. I have had a lot
of exposure to people of both types, however.

I once dated a woman who was annoyingly self-absorbed. It was mostly a
relationship of convenience - I needed a place to stay, and she was easy.
But, you know, like when you're walking through the park or whatever, when
you're with your honey, how you point things out to each other - "Ooh!
Look! a robin!" and you hear her and notice what she saw that was so cool?
But that didn't happen with this girl. I'd point something out, "Oh! Look!
That's WAY KEWL!" and she'd be diddling with the car radio or some such.
Would that be a sign of a very mild autistic condition, or even a
precursor? (if there is such a thing.)?
Just curious here - I haven't seen her in decades.
