The speed controls have been used..but the slide and ways are virginal
<G>
The threading gear box was never used nor was the half nut, power feet
worm etc etc.
That CNC unit that they bolted to the ways was never moved and only
the slide on the top of it moved the tools.
So the only wear is on the spindle bearings and a couple of the
headstock gears.
I think I did ok here..for a change.
About 10 yrs ago..I snagged a Cadillac tracer in good running
condition and gave it to a friend of mine, who already had 3 of
them..stored up on his myrid pallat racks...so when I mentioned that
Id gotten this lathe..he said he would dig the one Id given him back
off the racks, we could set it up on one of his machines to make sure
it works..and then I could take it home to put on this. I think
however..that that tracer is going to go on the Clausing 1500..and
this little girl is going to become my main lathe. The HLV-H...Im not
sure what to do with it as of yet. Its a marvelous lathe...and it is
delightful to use.....but...it needs the gear box bearings replaced
and its only at most...19" between centers. And desperately needs a
coat of paint.
The bearings for the threading gearbox are going to cost at least
$200 probably much more...so it may simply be moved and sprayed down
and then securely wrapped until I have the money to do a gearbox
rebearing job.
Shrug
No one here wants the round top Clausing 13x36? If not..it goes on
Craigslist then.
